Joshm1991
I've just upgraded my bike to SLX 2x10 with both front and rear derailleurs changed and the chain set changed to the 2x10 with bashring. Everything's fine on the back end of the bike, but the front gears won't change up to the top ring because the mech is hitting on the bashring. I've tried adjusting both limit screws, the height and the angle of the mech and I can't make it change to the top ring. It's as if the bashring is preventing it from getting the full swing? Anyone got any clues? Any advice is greatly aprieciated! Chees Joosh
Matthew62
Post some pics up so we can get an idea of how you've set it up. I used to run that setup on my old Five with a 36t ring and a raceface bash and had no issues (considering apparently you can't run a 36t on the front of a five with a double chainset). When my mech changed up it was very close to the bash, but it just sat above it and never caused any issues.
Joshm1991
This is what I've got it set up as. A you can see, if it was to pull up over, it would foul out on the bashring. I've never really set a 2x10 up so I've probably just done something wrong? Sorry if the pictures are a bit big, they're straight off my camera! dezmtber
Looks like you just need to bring the front mech up higher to clear the bash in the big ring. It will set it too high as far as the proper setup but its the only way. Other than buy a smaller bash
Joshm1991
Aye I thought it might have been sitting a bit low.. But if I bring it any higher, the chain fouls on the bottom of the mech in the lower rear gears.. If you get me? I dunno if that's just because of the setup but it rubs like hell on the front mech if its any higher! I'll have a try with it a bit higher and see how it goes! Joshm1991
Problem solved! I thought it would have something to do with it being too low! It does fowl on the mech in 1x6 onwards, but the chain starts to run crossed and I always try not to run it crossed if I can help it! Thanks for clearing it up guys! dezmtber
If the front mech is a 2 speed mech it will rub on the lower gears if you use a granny ring smaller than a 26t A triple front mech with the screws adjusted to be double will work better on what I think u are running 22x36 If the front mech is a 2 speed mech it will rub on the lower gears if you use a granny ring smaller than a 26t A triple front mech with the screws adjusted to be double will work better on what I think u are running 22x36
