Recommended Posts

Hi all after a wicked time at rad the weekend I am think of having a street /trials frame made by marino . If you went you could not of missed me as I was the tall ,old ,cowboy looking mo-fo on the 02 giant team trials bike (which I love). I am old Skool as the name say's ^^ so the geo I am looking for is nearly there with what I got . BUT my Q is can any one tell me (if you are over 6ft) what sort of geo there frame is or what I should be looking for? All the newer stuff ,I just can't get on with .i have tryed zoo pitbull's ect but for me I just don't feel at home . The giant has been the best I have had todate but I am thinking for the new frame = 10 to 15+ on the bb , 380ish on the rear , 1060 wheelbase and the angle?????

Any help will be very gratefull for this old timer.

Thank you gents :)

Sorry for any spelling mistakes ect

Im a 190cm(use SI units its 2013 and you are in EU ;-)...)(don't know how many feet that is 6+...) Anyway I'm on a inspired hex(great for messing about)...I used to ride gt 16" frames back in the day, sorta same riding just easier on the inspired (that geo I mean, any other frame of that type should be good.)...oldschool is the only school !!!!...

Isitafox that's near what I have with giant 1045wb rear is 406mm , and I do like the set up I have . I am not to sure on what the bb is on the giant or how to work it out.

Dk a few people have said a hex is a good all rounder. They are just a little out my price though which sucks.

Hey Chez! Was good meeting you at RADFEST.

I'm no where near 6 foot but I have had a shot on a fair few set ups and know whats too big for me!

Ive tried a few Hex set ups and they are too big for me, so I guess people are right in saying they would be good! I actually think something like a Mk2 Ashton with the right bar and stem (the one youve got should be fine) would be good for you. Its still fairly old school and im sure you could pick one up cheap!

But if you went for your Marino, i'd go for 1045, 20, 380, 74. The 74 HA might allow you to use a shorter stem if you felt there was enough cockpit space/leverage over the front wheel.

I'd go for a 25cm seat tube which would be 27cm inc your 20mm bb rise, which would be round about the same, if not less than your Giant.

The giant's probably a 10mm drop.

Just ride my 26 for a bit and see how it feels. Bb drops don't exist anymore, even on the streetiest bikes. Your problem will be getting enough steerer tube.

The front of my 26 is pretty high but you'll need more.
