Mikec
Hi guys after a good fees years of mtb, I fancy having a crack at trialling, to be honest I've got a trials motorbike but never get out on it much, so thought I'd get a cycle trials bike to help practice a bit. Which brings me to my question, I've found and old t bird, mag brakes all round for 75 quid. Only thing that really puts me off is why the frame is "shaped" differently to most trials, and even the new bird bike? Anyone have any opinions or advice they can offer? Oh it's 20" wheels too. Thanks mike
dngr2self
It's just the way the older bikes were designed. It's hard to say if it'd be any good without seeing it but as long as there aren't any cracks massive dents or gouges then it should be ok for learning. Worse case scenario you'll get your money back on the brakes.

dngr2self
It's always best to ask about cracks and stuff though before buying, that way if its through PayPal or eBay you could get money back if it turns out to be damaged.

It's only local anyway so I'd be going looking at it first, presumably they generally crack around the welds? Cheers mike

Like I said though the brakes alone are worth the price though so you can't go wrong.
isitafox
Agreed, if you get on well you could probably swap 95% of the stuff off it onto a newer frame and upgrade from there if you wanted to.
old boy chez
My first 20" was one of the early t's and it helped me a load. As the guys above said you can transfer bits from one to another and keep upgrading as you. Fun little bike I miss it lol.
