Skorp
Im currently 215lbs and been riding at the same level since forever. ( Gap 240cm, sidehop 110cm, tap 125cm) Koxx Karbon frame from 2007 still last good. ( TRA owned it the first year) Echo TR rim from 2010 is straight enough Rockman Lite cranks from 2010 is starting to get wobbly in the isis Because Carbon handlebars from 2010 is going strong. Nukeproof Mag/ti Neutron from 2009 pedals have started cracking Echo titanium freewheel is not even skipping after 3 years. I broke a piece of shit Neon fork after 2 years, Incredibly light but hold my weight on hooks, frenchies and batmans four times longer than i ever could imagine. Reset TI bottombracket needs new bearings after 6 months, changed three times. Now been on Trialtech lite since it came out. bearings are abit slow, but it will work 2 more years. Imo, Normal riders that break parts are doing stuff wrong, be smoother and anything with ok quality will last. My lightweight stuff have no problems supporting me. dngr2self
What the hells a batman?
forteh
Isn't it similar to a pigeon?
Azarathal
I've always known it as a pigeon but everyone else near me knows it as a boon up I think
forteh
Boon and pigeon are different Boon = hop forwards with brake locked and zero pedal input. Pigeon = static hop up an obstacle when the front wheel is resting on top and rear wheel is on the floor (also known as a transfer/wheel swap round here). I seem to recall that a batman is the same as a pigeon, not sure where the naming reference comes from though, probably wrong edit: This is a pigeon (courtesy of trashzen!) Azarathal
I know what a boon is but that's seen as a boon up, you have the rear brake locked but don't really use the pedals much
forteh
Don't use the back brake at all when pigeoning (bigman taught be this and he can pigeon about 87 foot!), allowing the rear wheel to roll lets you use fork flex to pop the bike up - the wheel needs to move backwards to allow the flex
dngr2self
Cheers guys, I've always known them as transfers but from now on I'm calling them batmans.
forteh
Don't quote me on the batman, I may well be wrong and potentially adding to the confusion! I think tartyadam might be able to shed more light on the batman perhaps?
AdamR28
Yeah, I think it was a Koxx Days Aran Cook / Ali C / Stan Shaw phrase, 'hanging like a bat'.
forteh
Thought it had something to do with ali/stan/iolo and you would know You may now call them batmans
Barbara Logan-Price
Iolo named it pigeon in the first place didn't he ?
AdamR28
That's a different move - where the front wheel is on top of something and the rear wheel isn't hanging.
forteh
Ah so a batman is a hanging pigeon? I'm confused
harmertrials
Have always referred to a 'batman' as a static hook, just gonna throw that out there. In other news, getting dragged out for my mates graduation tonight, and setting off at 7:30 tomorrow, oh dear.

J.KYDD
Have always referred to a 'batman' as a static hook Yup, static hook. Wheel swap is when your back wheel is still on the floor
Otacon
I put a similar post of Facebook the other day. I was considering making a return to Trials this summer, but why ? there's nothing out there for me. I was after a Alex DX32 rim, potentially, the strongest rim ever, can't get them. I brought some second hand 2007 Zoo! forks off a big rider, he'd abused them for a year before i brought them and i had them for 2 years till they finally gave in, bomb proof they were. So i brought some 2009/2010 Zoo forks of Ben-John Hynes to replace, they were brand new, never used, 2 weeks later, ive got two f**k off cracks in them, so i got 2010 urbans, bent and snapped in two weeks, so got 2011 urbans, bent in 3 weeks. I look on Tarty and i ask myself what is going on. There is nothing i can buy, to get started again. I remember 07 zoo forks been like £70, now i have to pay £150 for some TNN forks to get some V forks that will last me. Its insane, me and all the old school riders have been talking, Damon, Tunni, Lazenby etc etc and nobodys got any motivation and people ask why ? why, because theres nothing out there for us. I dont wanan ride smooth and comp style, I want a 13kg bike (like mine was), that i can smash the shit out of and it will be fine, my 06 control frame has been through hell and back with me riding it, its still bomb proof and as stiff as the day i brought it. Deng annoys me. He had Zoo, Echo, Adamant, Czar and GU. He could of been the biggest distributor of trials parts ever and he messed up. He could of had two brands for TGS heavy stuff, two brands for comp and 1 or 2 brands for 24" spinny crap and NO company out there, would of been able to compete with him, because from 2004 to 2007, deng had the strongest and most popular bikes/frames and components out there and instead he just f**ked off 24" and TGS and went to light comp stuff. The trials scene could be what it used to be, Stick a post on here for a ride in brum, with 2 days notice, in 2007/2008 we'd have 100 heads out, no problem, everytime and all them people, rode TGS on a Deng frame or a old school Koxx etc. But no company will support it. When TrialTech first come around, some of the stuff them guys come out with was sick, everything was so strong, and thats all getting lighter and weaker with time. I spent 9-10 years of my life riding trials, I did it almost everyday, and i loved it, i loved the people, the travelling, the seeing new cities, the friends i made, everything was amazing. I bet you a £1000 if i built a bike up and went on a ride in brum that was organised on here, it would be 24"'s everywhere and no atmosphere, just people comparing who's got the lightest bike. Back in the day, it wasnt about competition, it wasnt about the best bikes or components or the lightest bikes, it was about having a laugh, meeting new people, encouraging people to go as big as they can. As much as i know it will never be that way again, i wouldnt change how it was, some of the best times of my life. Ill quote Ben Lazenby: "If i'd of found trials post 2010, i wouldnt of even botherd" Cheers.
