Perez
This system is beeing tested for the last year and a half on one of my mates bike, i did this job, as well making a hole on the fork, so the cable pass inside. A year and a half of some bashing-a-lot and street stuff, and no problems yet. The fork is a Echo Urban. It is different from the rest but i really like the final result. Martin Reynolds
This. And for how easy it is to run cables through the steer tube, it'll be a million times safer.

Revolver
Looks nice. If it's been going a year so far it can't be so bad either.

aener
Cool! That looks sweet. What about running the cable through the bars? There's already a big hole in the stem clamp, and no stress going through that part of the bars anyway... just drill a hole through the bars and run it straight through the stem. It'd tidy up your cable routing a little too, which is never a bad thing with cable brakes.
Perez
Like i said, its going strong after a year and a half. If it brokes, i'll post the video or photo, would be fun anyway, ahaha!Cool! Maybe someone try that after seeing this thread
dann2707
That's pretty cool however is it affecting the brakes performance with it being bent around the bars etc? I noticed that my front cable vee worked much better when the cable was as short as possible and with barely any kinks in it from the lever to the arms. (must be the same with a cable disc too, not sure what you have)
Perez
The brake works very good, i use a linear bmx cable and there is no friction at all. What is very important is the angle of the holes, so they can run the cables smothly.
Canardweb
Good idea! I wouldn't do it though
Blake
I'm okay with just running my cable in the air
dave33
Where he's drilled the holes are areas which are under hardly any load. Nice job
