crinks85
Well after the tyke trial yesturday I thought id do omore riding back at my local spot down at Richmond falls and within 5seconds my bottom bracket snapped! I have never seen it happen before. Is it common? Thankfully I was try to hop up something and not down something as it would of ripped my leg wide open! Mikee
It's not common but it's definitely not unheard of. Upgrade your cranks and bottom bracket to ISIS if you can. They have bigger axles then square taper bottom brackets, so are less likely to break.

dk2
Its kinda normal on squared bb, hence the switch to Isis and later on external bb ala hollowtech....glad you didnt hurt yourself.
J.KYDD
Yeah, not uncommon with Sq Taper BB's. Upgrade to ISIS when you can

dann2707
Does anyone know why it mainly happens to square tapers? Is it because the isis spline spreads the load more evenly? or the tapered aspect acts as a stress riser?

J.KYDD
Ha, warranty on a Sq Taper BB that's been used for trials? You'll be lucky
AdamR28
Try and get either a longer or shorter crank bolt - at the moment it's finishing right in line with the crank and causing a stress riser.
ogre
What Isis bb are people using? the trial tech sport lite is the best bb going at the moment. very strong, and light considering the strength...

crinks85
Onza are going to send me out another one as a replacement, but I'm reluctant to use it incase it happens again. I'm lucky not to torn a hole in my leg or broke something, It might just go in the box for a spare and get an Isis one come payday!
