MikeCottTrials
Anyone know how it can be done for free? It's causing me a headache at the moment, the online sites seem to be a bit of a joke. Ideally after some good freeware to suit my exquisite needs
Matthew62
Copy & Paste. Paste a PDF in to word as a picture and save it. Use a Mac. But the best option is to use Adobe Acrobat. It's just a Save As option. P.S. You're going the wrong way though....forget Word, PDF is king.

MadManMike
I think he might be wanting to edit a PDF... So saving as a picture won't really help. In my experience it's a pain in the ass and I've ended up typing it out.

AndrewEH1
Can't you copy the text within a PDF across to Word? Won't work with pictures mind... Edit: you can always PrtScn the images into Paint and then copy them into Word. Edited June 28, 2013 by AndrewEH1
MikeCottTrials
Basically what I want to copy is a huge document contain images, text and specific points that need filling in with writing. I'm starting to realise it's not possible unless I can get hold of the master copy...which I doubt I will be able to
JDâ„¢
Yea, there's a reason people put those documents into PDFs
MikeCottTrials
Yea, there's a reason people put those documents into PDFs Yeah, it's so it can be read by a wider array of computers than if it was published as a word document...don't be a bell end
thinkdougie
See the first post. I've done it with my uni work Mike? What about printing it off, scanning and saving as different file type? Edited June 29, 2013 by thinkdougie
AndrewEH1
Impossible just to print and hand write the stuff in?
MikeCottTrials
I've done it with my uni work Mike? What about printing it off, scanning and saving as different file type? Nah man, it doesn't do a good enough job, in fact it makes a complete mess out of it. I've found a work around for it, it's just going to be mega time consuming Impossible just to print and hand write the stuff in? Not impossible, just a whole lot less professional looking. Got a solution for now guys! I'll post back and let you know if it comes to fruition
MadManMike
Yeah, it's so it can be read by a wider array of computers than if it was published as a word document...don't be a bell end He's not being a bell-end, it's a serious point. People export to PDF so that they can't be edited in a lot of cases.
Luke Rainbird
I can't for the life of me remember which site I used last week to do this but they do exist. However, if it's just a case of filling in a few boxes you may have more joy just print screening and adding transparent text boxes as an overlay to keep it simple for now. Re-save as a PDF and they'll be none the wiser
Matthew62
He's not being a bell-end, it's a serious point. People export to PDF so that they can't be edited in a lot of cases. Pretty much every PDF can be picked apart given the right software. The only way to really look down a PDF is to use rasterized artwork which is completely counter intuitive. You can't expect word to just make a carbon copy of the PDF so you will have to copy and paste the respective text and images and place text boxes where relevant for the sections that'll need filling in later. Alternatively like i've said use Adobe Acrobat which will write a word document out of your PDF. It is the industry standard and by far the best way to go about it.
