Jake.
After 3 days solid of riding this weekend, I've developed a really sore neck. It's in the back of the neck and feels like a muscle there's 2 of them and only the one on the right hand side hurts... It doesn't hurt if I keep still, but it hurts when I try to sleep, or whenever I turn my head no matter how slow. I haven't fallen on my head at all for that matter... Just looking for some advice to take the pain away? Really irritating me. I've tried exercising my neck gently tilting it in a circle which helped a little but not much. Azarathal
Sure it's not your traps? Part of your upper back and riding always makes mine ache
J.KYDD
Sounds like you may have just pulled a muscle slightly. I did it while riding a while back Get some ibuprofen gel and try and rest it
trialsiain
might just be muscle pulled or something ? sometimes if i do fast jerky movement on bike i get sore neck and it feels like it dosent go round as much as it should... just give it time
Jake.
Yeah I think it's the trapezium muscle if that's what it's called, cheers josh I'll do that. I'm pretty sure I've had this before and went away after a few days just wanted to see what other riders did when this problem occurred. Yeah must be a pulled muscle. casualjoe
Your neck's not meant to lean backwards very far, so avoid doing that and use your eyeballs more if you want to look up.
dngr2self
Could it be a bit of whiplash?
AdamR28
What's your bar and stem setup like?
persistant_itch
soak a towel in warm water (like bath water warm) and drape it down your neck and upper back, won't solve it but will relieve it, also look for some ibugel as above.
Jake.
What's your bar and stem setup like? Gonna give that hot damp towel thing a go in the bath tonight, been outdoors all day working on a bonfire and neck feels a little bit better but hurts if I turn it more than 80deg left or right, which is a pain in the arse cause I sleep on my chest haha.
