HippY
Hey guys I am planning to get a new brake, since 99% of the faults related to my bikes are happening because the worn brakes ( bought second hand). I have an option to buy an Echo TR brand new for 35 (full system). I did not hear anything about it so I ask for your help. any opinion or experience? anything I should pay attention? I am going to use them water and antifreezer bled, I have bad experiences with oil. Any special things about them?
isitafox
Pretty certain a water bleed will leak in an echo, if it already has a good bleed then don't touch it!
HippY
ohh, so I should get mineral oil in it anyway :/ I try to keep away oil if that would be possible, too expensive, and if it goes wrong, then my disc will die again Edited June 13, 2013 by UKHippY
Blake
I've ran water in all my echo brakes, no problems.

bing
If its an echo disk brake, leave it oil bled. I had one a while ago, and it was one of the best brakes I've ever had. Brutally powerful, it was bedded in perfect
UK_SPAWN
My friends echodisk is rubbish...hmm I think its his pads or disk then... and you shouldn't water bleed any disk brake as the water will boil off and many other reasons. He also runs a rear tr lever/ "dengura" water blead, and its fine and doesn't leak. I think its how good you set them up and bleed them and what pads and disk you use that make more off a difference. I cant see a echo tr disk being any better or worse than any other. Cheers
HippY
actually it will be the rim brake versions thanks for the help guys, i think i will go with them
stephenmx50
IMO most of the problems come from the slaves, the lever/piston are fine water bleed! Some problems caused from leaking from the lever are because the TPA is wound out to far past the sealing point. (check on tarty website for more info on this) I have a water bled echo TR rim brake up front with Maggy Slaves fitted, been on there for 2 years - not a single leak!
