Laurence--Trials
Im having chain tensioning problems with my rockman tractor so what ive decided to do is use a spoke tensioner. Now my problem with this is a sidehop onto the drive side and i'd brake it with in a matter of minutes. Would it be possible to run on the other way up, would it still work? Also, could i have some advice on making one, i've done a search but got a little confused.. i dont have snail cam bolts/holes so i'll have to put it around my axle spacer i should think, would that be okay? I basically have no idea what i'm doing here.
Jake.
I've used a 74kingz tensioner (same as heatsink) and bashed it loads on sidehops and it was fine... A spoke tensioner should be even more fine cause they're thinner and can flex better I think?
Laurence--Trials
i highly doubt that it would stay the same shape after having 70kg or so land on it..
Revolver
Give it a go first, at least.
trials hoe
how are you having the issue with chain tension? doesn't the rockman have integrated tensioners? if you ran it the other way up (guessing you mean tensioning the chain upwards from the dropout, above the chainstay) it'll have loads of slack when you get power on, it'll only hold tension when it's coasting or unloaded. that would make for a seriously bumhole clenching ride, but i'm probably misunderstanding what you said haha. good thing about spoke tensioners is that even if it gets a good bashing and no longer holds tension on the chain you can just bend it back out 'till it does or just make another...i have spokes all over the place haha I'm sure I'm not the only one. i found plain gauge spokes worked better than butted ones too.
