MilkyWay
After years of planning and months of development we are pleased to announce that the MilkyWay Tribe is now online. It is a community built starting from the Biketrials niche and planning to scale up rapidly to all action sports. The MilkyWay Tribe is not a forum nor a simple map, it is a real social network that aims to truly facilitate the meeting between riders and the search for new spots where to ride.It does not replace Facebook, Twitter, the social networks you normally nor your favorite blog or forum, but is complementary to them all. It is simply a collector of information and allows you to share and organize your sports life in just a few clicks!MAIN FUNCTIONALITIES:- Advanced Google maps with innovative filters that allow to display any combination of sports, spots and riders;- User profile with personal custom links;- Possibility to upload and share spots with other riders thanks to the "Add to Spot" button;- Tracking and organizing your training sessions with the "Create a Ride" button;- Automatic used stuff market from the "My Gear" section in your profile;- Feed tabs where to write quick messages to other users or where to check their latest actions;- ...LINKhttp://milkywaytribe.comWe are still in Beta, but we look forward to your comments and we hope you will like our product and, above all, that it will be useful to all riders around!Cheers,The MilkyWay TeamJacopo, Cavve, Gibbe, Lele, Clare, Luke, Angel, Cicco, Cristian ... and all the others who have made possible this first step towards the Ultimate Action Sports Community! Luke Rainbird
Well, this looks like a lame attempt to take over the world if ever I saw one...
dngr2self
So you can talk to other riders, sell stuff and organise rides? Brilliant. If only some thought of this before. Fair play for trying though.

HippY
it is not a lame idea, I mean it is not for trials only, it is a nice idea !
Carlperkins
i think if there was 100's of sports involved like climbing, kayaking, basejumping etc it would be a good idea. but im sure something like that already exists, i remember using it once. its a massively over complicated way to find out spots to ride, and seeing as trials riders can ride on mostly anything.. i cant see this having any where near enough information. for example i want to know riding spots within 20 miles, not the spots in canada. it probably wont work. it might... but dont expect it to be the next new thing. MadManMike
Functionality and idea aside, why has nobody raised the point about "MilkyWay Tribe"?
Mark W
I guess MilkyWay has existed as a brand (in the trials company sense, rather than the 'floaty light' confectioners) for long enough now for people to just kind of accept it, plus trials riders are so used to bad names for stuff that it just washes over people now if the name seems weird/strange? It's a sort of cool idea, but so many people have done similar stuff now that just hasn't taken off that I'm not really sure it ever will. Facebook and messageboards have such a choke-hold on people's online activities that trying to shoehorn another in there doesn't really seem like it's going to succeed. On the other hand, MilkyWay's parts line up looked like it might have been cool, but now that seems to have taken a back seat to trying social networking stuff and just generally selling other people's stuff in an online shop.
