I was outbid every step of the way so I hope whoever wins it is happy... Haha. Won a pair of 04 maguras for £37.

Jake.
Yeah they're extremely solid, look out for a pair of red maguras on ebay they always seem to go dirt cheap for some reason. Mine came with bolts, clamps, spare lever and even pads...
bing
O4 maggies for the win. Best design there was, most solid. 05's are ok, but the cracking thing was a bad design flaw. As for 2011's and the crappy plastic body's, meh

monkeyseemonkeydo
To be fair Maguras were never a trials brake, they were just adopted by us.
Jake.
Funny how the one they make for mountain bikers 10 years ago is better than a modern day trials specific one.
bing
Funny how the one they make for mountain bikers 10 years ago is better than a modern day trials specific one. Yeah. I'd have 04's over any of them now. My first ever set of maggies were green frogs with the cnc boosters

24martin
I worded that so bad :l me too, V-brakes for the win every single time! the only magura i would ever consider running (even though i wouldn't) is an 04 but still, i absolutely despise trying to set up the slaves perfectly square to the rim (in comparison to a V-arm/pad setup, which takes around 3 seconds per side lol), also i hate the whole idea of 4bolt clamps / hate taking them off every time you remove the wheel / hate pissy little m5 threads in the frame / hate weak crappy mass produced lever body's that disintegrate with every crash (<although this doesn't happen with 04's) / hate bleeding / hate mineral oil / hate olives and barbed fittings / hate seized tpa's / hate sticky pistons / hate being the only bike mechanic in the group of riders that i ride with and hate working on all of the sh|tawfull magura's on there bikes lol! getting back on topic though... if anyone spots a cheap set of avid ultimate's on ebay in good nick, post a link up Edited May 23, 2013 by 24martin
Jake.
You clearly haven't had much experience with maguras because you seem to be having a lot of issues. You don't need to take clamps off to take wheel out, just deflate the tyre... It's super easy setting up maguras once you're used to it. Nobody bleeds with oil, water bleeds are super easy to do I could do it with my eyes shut. And I will do.
bing
I got a 2011 lever off Damon and I bath bled it, its leak free so far
24martin
Na bud i've had lots of experience with magura's, thats exactly why i hate them lol! Sometimes you do have to remove the rear clamps to avoid contaminating the pads if they are running a smooth rim! Also ive never bled a magura system with oil i always bleed with water and antifreeze, what i meant by hating mineral oil is the fact i have to spend ages cleaning it out of my sink after ive bled out a new magura for someone lol! Basicly what i should have said is that maguras are an overcomplicated pain in the arse compared a V (imo) XD bing ive never seen a 2011 lever leak yet, and ive waterbled maybe 9 or 10 of them with zero problems Edited May 23, 2013 by 24martin
