UK_SPAWN
My crank seems ti be working its self loose... Removing the spacer behind the crank on the BBseems to have tightened it up... Can i run it like this or will it break my cranks/bb? Cheers all.
FamilyBiker
if its a part of your bb it has a place where it belongs to be at... :wink2:

UK_SPAWN
Well i need new cranks, bb and spacers then... Ahh allways somthing..
FamilyBiker
your problem should be the crank, because its material is softer, than the bb axle.you could change only the crank...or maybe first try to file a bit off the spacer,if the bearings are okay it could be a bodge Edited May 20, 2013 by FamilyBiker

UK_SPAWN
Echo press fit bb? I thought it may have been the bearings there movin around in the frame, but that is definitly nit he case i have checked that many times.. After riding bikes a while u get used to the feel and sound of certain problems. This is definitly crank wobble... As i call it..
Jake.
A mate is running one without spacers, done it for a month or so now. He's having no issues, if it ever gets a bit loose just slap the spacers back on, then tighten the bb back into the frame then take them out again if you feel you need to. UK_SPAWN
If i do cranks ill do bb just to be "all new". As allways, thanks you lot.JMCD. Jake.
You're welcome dude, you'll probably have some people that will advise you against it too but it'll be fine. The mate I know does massive stuff and it's fine.
UK_SPAWN
It looked ok as there was still a mm of crank fir the bolt to tighten upto. Just wanted opinions. I dont think its part of the bb cuz its echo branded spacer...
UK_SPAWN
Ill save no spacer as a last resort. I allways cary a 8mm allen anyhooOh btw, do u know if STAN TI crankbolts work wih my stylee BB? I was thinking a 10mm key will be better/longer for more torque... Im putting like all my 8.5stone on the 8mm lol and its still fighting back.. What torque should i be using on crankbolts?
Rich J
I've already said this but on all spanish bb's ive seen there are spacers that cover the entire front of the bb. Just try one of those.
UK_SPAWN
Is this what you mean Rich J?
Rich J
No. Google. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=spanish+bb+bmx&aq=f&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&authuser=0&ei=pEadUZbcGYjs0gXEj4GoAw&biw=1366&bih=624&sei=y0adUeuuGsvP0AW5-oG4Bg Every BB there has a cover spacer. UK_SPAWN
I see. No I don't have those. I didnt buy/install the bb. Seems to be okay for the moment. Im just going to buy new cranks and BB when I can.
dezmtber
Bmx Spanish spacers do cove the bearing but the echo one in your pic is as it should be. They use that spacer to save weight.
SamKidney
Surely the spacers on the Echo BB are there to stop play developing too? They're press fitted bearings, and with enough sideways umph it could shift them a little.. the spacers butt up against the outer surface of the inner race to stop that happening. As you tighten the crank bolts it pulls the axles bearing seat and the washer together on each side of the bearing race to stop that play developing. Put the spacer back in, but maybe file/grind away at it to allow your crank to sit a little further on. That way your crank stays tight and the spacer performs the function it was designed for. UK_SPAWN
Thank you for the reply's all. I considered that but I didnt want to ruin my only spacer so I played n tightened n tried cranks in a different position etc... Seems to be okay with the spacer in maybe im just weak and couldnt tighten it enough. Cheers.
Alex Dark
Use a bar on the end of the allennkey for more leverage?
UK_SPAWN
Yeah I use adjustable spanner as leverage on the allen key (spanner has a ring/hole on the end) and when im out I just stand on it n bounce about... seems to be holding
UK_SPAWN
Came a bit loose again yesterday when I was out. Now im worried about stripping the threads or snapping the head off the bolt? Its an echo crankbolt that has a allen socket all the way through. So if I do break it it will still come out wont I it?
