Some of the older riders out there seem to have a similar-ish style, but I suppose a lot of people who've started riding in the past few years won't necessarily have seen footage of them

Tarty should get Nicky G to do some more copies of GET1 or put it up on vimeo for all to see!

Nice video Ben. It's cool to see people pushing drop gaps and stuff again. I like smooth lines but It's good to see people pushing the limits too.

It was a cool line but why wasnt the side hop as smooth as the rest? I love the way you're able to roll as you land on side hops so why didnt you use that technique in that line?

yeah man, basically was the first time id tried it and was just getting used to the bikes ive been on.m sorry to let you down on that one!

Getting older and getting a house happened to Rowan. His riding actually seemed to step up a bit once he got his Hex, but he hasn't really had a chance to get much on film. Some of the stuff he was doing in/around the time we were filming for Clean 001 was f**king sweet.

The reason Rowan was riding was at such a high level (and still is better than most people) is because Rowan is really f**king good. That doesn't mean everyone else is by default shit, it just means they aren't as good as him. It's the same reason CLS hasn't put a video out in a long time but most people still don't get close to his riding nowadays. It's not because "standards have changed", it's because if it was easy to do riding like that we'd all be doing it.

It'd be cool to see someone going down the Nicky G/Rowan route again though. Some of the older riders out there seem to have a similar-ish style, but I suppose a lot of people who've started riding in the past few years won't necessarily have seen footage of them as they dropped off the radar a little while ago now.

:offtopic:Thanks for completely disregarding the topic as you havent uttered a word about the video

yeah i understand what your trying to say, and not saying people are shit by default just lack of knowledge of higher end riders and video evidence of madness from way back when, hence the lack to push the limits of their own riding to break through to new levels! i mean i know watching other riders myself from back in the day would make me get psyched get psyched and helped to push me and try stuff out of the comfort zone.

like its come to my attention recently Mr Kerns has created a trials media youtube channel and is uploading older school videos to this daily! which i think is great and will show a lot of the newer riders what was capable in yesteryear :deej: maybe it should have a live link or something to the channel from the forum so that its not forgotten about in a week or so when a few more people have added videos to the page and his links not just forgotten, or is there anyway you administative men could find the media from the older forum as i know a lot was lost when it was all updated.

That wasn't really the case in fairness, it was more of a case that that comment I quoted piqued my interest. I didn't feel I had much to add in terms of the video itself, but thought that having ridden with Rowan and him specifically being mentioned I could maybe fill in some gaps.

So I'm "on topic", the riding wasn't really my thing but there was some big stuff in there. The music and filming kind of gave it an old school vibe somehow, which was cool in a nostalgic sort of way.

EDIT: Oh, and regarding current riders - I think part of it might be that riders these days tend to be slightly more rounded than before, in so much as there's a lot of stuff people do now (e.g. shit to front) that, say, 6-7 years ago wasn't really done. As a result, I think people are progressing, but just in slightly different ways rather than just focussing on doing a few moves bigger.
