Damon Watson's new JAF ride

i've noticed a couple people on this topic, and in other topics, questioning the strength of those echo pedals!

i wouldn't consider myself too heavy (11.5 stone) and im certainly not a basher, but i snapped 2 pairs of these pedals in precisely the same place both times on the drive side pedal axle!

i would still buy another set again as they are actually really nice pedals and probably the most comfortable/grippy pedals ive ever used, but i wouldnt use them as frequently as i did and i would make sure to throw them away after a good 4-5 months riding (or do what i did last time and sell the remaining parts on here like the pins and the cnc pedal bodys!)

the first time they snapped it was such a huge crash it almost ended my riding career, but luckily it didn't... and now i always make sure i regularly check my pedal axles, i noticed that they will start to bend a tiny bit before they eventually snap... the best way i found to check this is to remove the pedal from the bike and remove the axle from the pedal, stick the axle either in the end of a drill or a lathe and spin it up nice and fast and it will become very obvious if there is any bend in the axle it will be very easy to see!

and back on topic with damon's jaf frame.. that is such a clean and functional build i love it, cant wait to see what damon can put this frame through and how well it can handle it!

i reckon a jaf frame will definately be the next thing on the list for me when my echo frame gives up!

actually, i honestly wouldn't be at all surprised if the majority of the riders on this forum end up eventually going back to reliable, well made, high quality, custom, reasonably lightweight, stiff, maintainable, repairable, affordable steel frames!

jaf f.t.w.

I'll respect you if you make an entire video which shows no set ups or lines, and only fades into each clip as you begin your preload and fades out as you land so we're not quite sure if you've even made the move.

AND the start of the video has to have screamo with your name flashing in black and white

Looks sweet. I like the anti bash curve too.

Shame I can't have one on my jaf the down tube would hit the top :)

mmmm sounds nice like a shotgun double barrel tube. Would that be stronger. If the top and down tube joined.

dont know how to apply it on bicycle frames, but in static constructions a triangle is the most stable shape..

btw the bike looks cool

not gonna do the lightweight fault again, huh?

(ffs,take that as a joke,please!)

If it makes a difference in our frames, it's marginal. The frame I've been riding for the past few months has a curved one too, and that's still fine.

So does pretty much every Onza of the moment that's not a Limey 4, and when they die it's vary rarely the downtube.

So do most Montys.

So do the new Koxx frames.

Theoretically, you're right, I think it's purely academic. Don't think we put enough force in for it to matter.

The fact you called it screamo, perfect haha.

90% (could be higher, but I dont obviously see all of them) of his posts are in some form or way negative, whether it is being argumentative in a topic, or just purely telling people what is right and is wrong.

EDIT: that last comment...how can you just assume 11kg? let damon answer the questions on his own bike FFS.

Guess it was just bugging me a little.

Also, you've read one opinion of those pedals being bad so why do you need to tell your friend to change his pedals? im sure more than two sets have been made / ridden. Also, I personally would be asking for visual proof of some sort to back up his claims, rather then relying on his simple words.

Anyway, im not here to argue any further, just answering your question.

P.s. Damon - bike looks nice, colour matches your tan ;-).

To be honest, I think you are all way too agressive against Ghostrider88. Maybe if you stopped that endless and about everything argument with him when he just states his opinion like you all do he would stop his self-defense.

Also about the pedals, my friend removed his and indeed, Ghostrider88 was right, they showed a small crack at the axle!!! So thanks Ghostrider88 from us both you probably saved his leg! Some other pedals are on the way now! ;)

Like the Koxx Kloud and the old Magellan Tucana frames!

It has got nothing to do with what you ride, it´s just I´m not interested in your vids anymore as I´m not into streety kind of riding. But if you are serious, I´m very pleased and looking forward to some vids.

It looks kool, reminds me of an old neon frame, but what strange shaps are you trying to Hook?

im just shit n cant do them properly, i always end up dinting downtubes, until now :)

Ah right, thought so but I didn't want to insult you. Hooks are hard to learn but once you get them easy as any move.

If your hitting the down tube try a bigger wall, one where you can't get up to bash at least. Actually easyer
