ashleys sugden
Hi guys, this morning i ripped my hose off my front echo disc brake trying footjam whip thingys. oil went all over the disc and the pads. ive fixed all the fittings and re-bled the brake, but its still sh*t, i wire brushed the pads to remove the oil and i washed the disc in hot water. ive tryed bedding it in again by spraying water on it after using the brake for a while. it stays good for about 5 minutes but then goes bad again. any help? thanks Edited May 5, 2013 by ashleys sugden
CurtisRider
New pads time basically, its unlikely that you will get all the contamination out. Try putting the rotor in a dishwasher, and boiling the pads in a pan but I have had only had sucess doing this a few times
dave33
Put the pads in the oven for half hour,it will get most of the oil out but won't be as good as new pads
Muel
I've tried everything to sort contaminated pads in the past, including burning the oil out of them with a blow torch. Nothing seemed to work, it was always just easier to replace them.

But blow torch never really gets them hot enough, I was putting them in the oven at 200 degrees c
Muel
Orly, I assumed a blow torch would be way hotter than 200C? I've had resin running out of the pads before with a blow torch so didn't want to get it any hotter.
Dazza1414
try soaking the disc and the pads in coke over night, I did this with the disc and pads on my moto trials bike and it worked a treat. gotta be worth a try before spending out on replacements
CC12345678910
That's a new one. Can see why it could work though.

Once they star going dark/red I think that's about 550c Cherry red is about 800//900 for steel ill give that a go actually, someone told me to do this to my moto trials a few years back, cheers man I put some on my rim years ago, around the time of monty brake spray. Worked abit to good lol
