Breath mod

This bike was quite an adventure. I ordered the frame, forks and cranks from Sheldon Walker (included were the headset and bashplate even though I didn't use that last one). You can find him in the Vendor section on Observed Trials and he is a great seller. The package got blocked by the custom in France. It lasted a week of sending the same e-mail every day because it seemed I wasn't talking to the same person each time. In the end I got someone who was comprehensive. It was supposed to be delivered on Monday but it showed up this morning!!!

I got the stem from Dave Kerr who I thank a lot for it. Great guy: fast transaction and great communication.

All the titanium bolts are from Ellen Titanium bolts that I got through Amas Wong.

The old 2005 brand new HS33 levers are from Trialprod which stocked some a while ago.

So far I have only ridden it in front of my building to see if everything was good build-wise so I can't really tell. The longer chainstay length certainly is a change and does feel weird. I have to get used to it to really tell.

Looks awesome! How are you finding the Monty Tyres, specifically the rear?

These tires are so perfect. Very light, bouncy as hell, very grippy, very stable. Perfect tire in my opinion. I have also never got a flat with these in 6 months.

Nice !! Were did you get frame from

You can get it directly from Breath or from one of their retailer. I got mine from Sheldon Walker.

I dont know why, but I dont like the frame.

I had exactly the same thinking when Sheldon sent me some pictures of the full build. I however got seduced by the geometry and seeing that it was a very good frame with no problems on it. Once you have it in front of yourself, it deffinetly looks different though. I find it very very nice.

Looks Proper nice :P how much are these frames?

I invite you to ask directly to Breath through their website or to ask Sheldon Walker who you can find on OTN.

The quality of the frame, especially around the weld area just looks shocking. Not the actual welding pattern, they look perfect and uniform. It just looks cheap and nasty. Compare the quality of the frame to say, an onza ice / comp and you will understand what I mean. It just looks so thin and "scratchy" ?

It's like this new chinese crap is trying even harder to cut down costs of the frame.

I would say it looks damn simmilar to sky :-

Say's who? It's a matter of opinion. I don't have time to argue with you Borat.

If I think they look cheap and nasty then that's what I think. Go out and ride instead of causing petty arguments on here.

Too bad when 700quid frame looks cheap, Borat...

Its a sky 2 copy. It doesn't look like it can take any hammer, and would break quite easily in the hands of a basher. And for 700 quid, why have a copy when you could go and get the real thing, and a proper warranty, and customer service to go with it

too bad they dont make 20" cranks there well toooooooo long for a mod

Yes as JMCD said they are 160 mm ones... (latest revised model)

Quality of the frame / material looks so so snap happy. Beautiful looking bike though.

I don't understand how you can say that from photos but ok...

Actually, I have just looked on the frame and I stil don't get what you mean by cheap and nasty?

Chinese frames are effectively cheaper as there are no added transport costs and other study desk costs.

I would say it looks damn simmilar to sky :-

Indeed, they are made in exactly the same factory than the SKY frames in Vietnam!

Are they notorious for being strong

I never understood why people say Sky frames are weak, I have a friend who owns one and has been riding it savagely for 2 years and it is still going strong. I have had my stock one for one year and still going strong too. Another friend has a mod one and has dented it quite a lot, that things still rides with no creaks or anything... Sky cost a lot but they are quite the ultimates frames going...

Aren't you the one who started an inappropiate argument other a frame that is as good quality as a Sky and saying it looks cheap? No worries though, as you say, you may think what you want. But at least please inform yourself first rather than judging the quality of the frame from a photo.

I was talking about the sky 3, not this one, breath copy costs 280 dollars, fair price if you ask me...

Yes exactly!

Don't ask for opinions on the bike if you're going to become an arse when you don't receive the classic TF "this bike looks amazing" post on your topic.

You asked for what people thought, I gave my opinion. That's pretty much it really.

I said no worries but sorry you took it that way. Of course if I post here I wait for others' opinion but as I said, you can't really judge the building quality of a frame from pictures right? Except if you have already tested one which I am sure you haven't because you wouldn't say such things. Except maybe for the first edition which I have never seen or tested though.

From the pictures iv seen on here that bike looks great, and the welds look nice and neat, I can tell what the penetrations like from the pictures but I'd make and educated guess that it's going to last.

But yea it's a bit silly just to assum that just because it's a cheap copy from china, 'copy' ?

Just shows the mark up on a £700 frame
