cant_ride
Hi all, Have a look at the pics attached. Just finished building my Echo 24 and noticed the chain is brushing up against the inside of the chainstay. Echo Hub with TT 14t sprocket rear, TT forged cranks with Tarty bashring and Try-all freewheel up front. Everything looks right, chain line is perfect but this is not! Am I doing something wrong, do I need a thinner chain, does the chain need a bit of slack, has anyone else had this issue? Ta! Oli
stunt man t
buy a sprocket with teeth in the centre, or turn your sprocket around so the teeth are closer to the spokes# looking at the picture though, if you turn the sprocket around the chain will rub on the spokes Edited May 3, 2013 by stunt man t
AdamR28
Either need: - Centred sprocket OR - Flip the sprocket over and a 3/32" chain Best solution: - Centred sprocket AND 3/32" chain
24martin
I had this exact same problem when i built my echo a few weeks ago... looks like yu got all the same parts that i have aswell! all i had to do in the end was turn my rear sprocket around and it worked perfectly, and i still have got a little bit of clearance between the spokes and the chain ) believe me i was so frustrated trying to work it out lol, ever since i turned the sprocket round i havent had a problem since

SamKidney
Make sure you change it. I used the same setup and it wore through..
cant_ride
Thanks to everyone for the answers! Have ordered a centre-toothed sprocket and a 3/32 chain + Tarty are happy to the return of the sprocket. Gutted I can't ride my new set up for the bank holiday weekend but always a good to do it right rather than bodge it! Ta Oli
pete_s
Just an observation but will a centre-toothed socket change your chain line by moving it in a few mm? What's the usual allowance on a free wheel? I know fixies have got to be almost bang on with theirs otherwise it starts to bind and make not very nice noises.
