TrialsRob
This is my embarrassingly large number of screens, all running from one pc. Discuss.
Dr. Nick Riviera
How long does it take you to find different pornography for each one?
TrialsRob
I've never tried that before, perhaps I should.

JT!
You have 8 screens, if you were to get rid of two, would you feel restricted with just 6?

TrialsRob
Six, might be manageable. Four would definitely now be too few though. I have yet to use all eight simultaneously but when I get back to web design in the summer I imagine I will.
JT!
Does it drive you crazy that one is different from the rest?
TrialsRob
They used to be all the same but one died, having the different one does irk me a bit when it comes using it for productive means, but a 20" screen is a lot better for tv/films than the 17" screen it replaced so I cope with it. Simon
Wait what, one computer? How many graphics cards do you have?!
monkeyseemonkeydo
How long does it take to get the mouse cursor from one end to the other? Also, if you pop out for a cuppa and forget where the cursor was, what's the longest it's taken you to track it down?! Seems crazy to me. Muel
I suspect a troll. Another pic with TF open, or it didn't happen.
dezmtber
I run a phone screen nearly 80% of the time the 20% just to watch some vids. I haven't got time for eight monitors :
Martin Reynolds
I suspect a troll. Another pic with TF open, or it didn't happen. ati eyefinity and higher end GC's can support 6 monitors from a single graphics card, so 8 is easily achievable with crossfile/sli

aener
I started going down this route. Fortunately, I was a student at the time so simply couldn't afford to do it properly I had three for a while, and then I got a fourth. After a few weeks I found I was only using it because it was there, and really didn't need it. I couldn't afford a rack either, so they were laterally spaced, which really f**ked with speaker placement. I dropped down to two 1680x1050s, and it's been enough for most everything (general use, video editing, and audio production). At work though, they provide a 1920x1080 and a 1280x1024, which does feel a little limiting occasionally when chopping and re-organizing a but-load of PHP files. A third might be nice, but I don't think I could ever justify eight:P If I could afford it and warrant having it, I'd be super all-over it, and be copying you. Haha. Props for reppin' Voyager, too! Been a loooooooong time.
AndrewEH1
Didn't fully read all the posts then... I have trouble tracking down the cursor with only two 24" monitors
monkeyseemonkeydo
I have trouble tracking down the cursor with only two 24" monitors Same. At work we run a dual monitor system but with one in landscape and one in portrait and that occasionally catches me out when the cursor is stuck too low on the portrait one to make it across to the landscape! Tony Harrison
Hmm... I think I'd go mad with that lot. Right now my 'desktop' is a Vaio laptop which has a 1600x900 screen, connected to a 1920x1080 external TFT. I'm thinking about running a second one (and therefore three screens in total) on the left and that'll be more than enough...

TrialsRob
Finding the cursor is never too big a deal, quick waggle of the mouse and its easy to spot. Though plenty of friends can't grasp this! One good jerk of the mouse gets the cursor across the width of it too. It only takes two cards to run it all, nvidia quadro 440s iirc, very low power card so hd video is about the limit of its ability - forget about games! all the monitors are cheap vga ones so I don't have the option of running better cards unless I replace the whole eight monitors, something that keeps creeping into my mind - imagine eight 24" monitors, I'd have to buy a second desk so I could sit further back to get it all in view. Unfortunately I can't get combat flight simulator to run multi-screen, that'd be awesome. I know its not necessary to have all of them, but its just glorious to be able to see absolutely everything relevant to the task at hand all at once, and have those things surround you. As for expense, 8*£35 for the monitors, 2*£40 for the cards, 2*£65 for the stands. I can't help but think if I invite a lady friend over it might come over so well as it is with you guys. harmertrials
I can't help but think if I invite a lady friend over it might come over so well as it is with you guys. I was thinking this. Just open up some stock shares and play the big dog. Either that or mean girls across 8 screens, she'll be dripping, the hard work is already done.
