cardenas_26trials
Which pad of these two would you use and why? (it can be any rotor) thanks!
dezmtber
I have used both. On a mod if your light say under 12 stone. Standard should be ok. Any heavier the pro pads, Or if you have a 24 or 26 pro pads are amazing.
N.Wood
My pro pads went to shit when there was any moisture around. Lacked hold and made a horrible noise. Numerous other people found this too (there is a topic somewhere, have a search). Put standard pads back on and all was fine again.
Jake.
If I recall correctly there was a thread saying standard was better and pro f**ked up easily.
trialsiain
Neither use nuke proof pads
onza pro series guy
Yeah pro pads are utter shite, I ended up using standards and had no problems
AdamR28
Spanner -> works: My Pro pads are better in the wet and dry, no squealing.
AndrewEH1
Spanner -> works: My Pro pads are better in the wet and dry, no squealing. I live in Scotland where it is pretty much constantly 'moist' and I never had an issue with the Pro pads. Edit: Perhaps people have issues bedding them in... Azarathal
Ran my pro pads for 6months and in the wet they had more bite than a Maggy and incredible hold. Louder than most maggies though Standard pads are much the same just without the noise.
cardenas_26trials
Mines are pro and they do brake really well on the dry and wet, but yes they sound really weird sometimes and they left some semi-red marks on the rotor... this has happened in two different set of pads and discs, so will try the standards! a friend has them and they feel amazing.thanks for the replies so far! I live in Scotland where it is pretty much constantly 'moist' and I never had an issue with the Pro pads. Edit: Perhaps people have issues bedding them in... How would you recognize a properly bedded in brake? thanks Edited April 14, 2013 by cardenas_26trials

AndrewEH1
A few hard stops down a hill when you first install the pads. http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/article/workshop-how-to-bed-in-disc-brake-pads-31337/

cardenas_26trials
here is a pic of the red marks that were left on the rotor, happened on two set of pads and discs (both pro) Is it even normal? thanks Ignore rusty spoke please Edited April 18, 2013 by cardenas_26trials
Azarathal
From the rust on the rotor, bolts and spokes and oxidisation on the frame(I think?) I assume this bike is kept outside or often exposed to wet conditions and could just be rust on the braking surface / mud on the pads? cardenas_26trials
From the rust on the rotor, bolts and spokes and oxidisation on the frame(I think?) I assume this bike is kept outside or often exposed to wet conditions and could just be rust on the braking surface / mud on the pads? In that case the front rotor should be in similar conditions, which is not :/ also, I live in a place where humidity is really high (I leave my bike on my room every night and you can see how it is). I believe it has something to do with the pads, just want to make sure it's that. Those marks appear after dragging the brake with some water on the disc. Thanks
dezmtber
Rub the rotor and pads back with sandpaper you have got something on there that's not normal. Please rebuild your wheel too
