Joe Papasnap Maher
Depends on the airline. Someone like easyjet, charge about £40 each way..
ben_travis
Jack, Another suggestion that might be sweet. Whats the chance of a big projector with a DVD player / laptop attached so we can get some booze (for those 18+), some appletisers (for those 17 and under) and videos on the go one evening? 'RadFest Movie Night' - Hosted by Jack Meek :-p Edited April 19, 2013 by ben_travis

williams
Has anyone got any idea how much it costs to bring a bike by plane? Its only from Ireland? I'd love to go to this! Purely just to meet other trials riders! I don't know of anyone living anywhere near me that rides trials! I'm coming from Sweden to Radfest, and I can bring my bike for free. It's in a bike bag though. And I have to register it as a "special luggage" but other than that, it's free for me
bing
They should give you a free one for coming that far dude
Kevinfor
If Im flying in from sweden, which airport would be the closest?
bing
If Im flying in from sweden, which airport would be the closest? Stansted at a guess, its about 20 miles away, then it'd either be London city or Southend. But stansted is the closest 'major' airport, and if you fly into heathrow, it means trying to get across London to Essex.

LEON
Yeah Stansted's the closest, it's 25-30 min drive from Barrow.
bing
Or Just go around London on the M25 like any sensible human being :wink2: Lol. A couple of years ago I had to go to Uckfield near Brighton, from Doncaster. I went around the M25 on the way there, but on the way back it was faster to go through central London, as the queues for the dart ford crossing were massive
Joe Papasnap Maher
You would of gone round the north circular id imagine. In terms of distance, going through the middle is shortest..on paper..but going round is quicker in practice
bing
Cos I came from donny, I came in on the m11, on the way back I went brought the black wall tunnel and came out at hangar lane gyratory, so yeah I ended up at the beginning of the m1 for the way back. It depends what time of day it is on the m25, anything between 7am to 9am is a reyt mare. And likewise between 4 and 7 at night is a mate as well. Hence the central London thing

ben_travis
Scandinavian flights are usually more expensive (comparative to the easy jets or similar), and as such they get better service (from my experience). Easy jet charged a few of us around £30-£40 each way for bikes to barcelona from edinburgh. I wouldnt say its robbery....just fill up your bike bag with all your camping gear / clothes for the weekend, then you wont have to pay an additional bag of luggage charge. OR as someone says, get it posted to barrow in a box, and i'd imagine it'll work out much cheaper overall

Lewis Gething
Jack, The Radfest webpage says that the event begins at 5PM on the Friday, but will you be planning to start riding friday morning, or will we only be able to ride after the 5PM start time? Also, is the only way to purchase tickets via the online ticket agency? Look forward to meeting you all again this year! Lewis.
