Taking a bike on a flight

Hi, I was just wondering whether anyone has any experience in taking a bike in a padded bag (below) and checking it onto a flight as a normal piece of luggage?

As it will obviously be within the 22kg limit. Or would it have to be checked in as sports equipment? Which option do you use as jet2 only have either a golf bag or ski's?

Thanks in advance for any help.

It varies from airline to airline, they took my bike in a bikebox and didn't charge me even though it should have been 50 pounds. I had to take it over to a special place, they didn't take it with my suitcase.
