fbmbmx
Well what do you need to change. Is it just frame, forks and wheels?

shercofray
Cranks, gearing, longer chain, stem.. Edit: maybe not stem but depends what you run and what frame you go for. Edited March 19, 2013 by shercofray
Jake.
You don't have to have a different stem, and the sprocket on stock wheel will be the difference in gearing. And you don't need different cranks either lol

Revolver
I think the stem is more of a concern than the crank length.
WIGAN ??
mod stems on stock are quite nice depending on your frame geo obviously and as long as its not stupidly high, ive had an echo one on for years and stock stems of today are getting higher and higher, copying off me i reckon

Wheels don't just come with a sprocket so yes you will need to buy one surely? Haha
Jake.
Yeah but if his current cranks are 165mm then it'll be too hard for a stock :/ No it won't be too hard haha had a go on jacks limey and you don't notice the difference between 175 and 170s

But then again I am very sensitive to change

WIGAN ??
you dont NEED longer cranks and you dont NEED a lower stem its preference what you do NEED at the very least is a rear wheel front rim and spokes a longer chain a bigger rear sprocket, frame and forks
Jake.
Stop being so f**king tight arsed jeez he doesn't have to change the crank length just because he's going stock.

ogre
Longer cranks are beneficial on a stock. But not critical.

shercofray
Stop being so f**king tight arsed jeez he doesn't have to change the crank length just because he's going stock. 'fbmbmx' asked a question; we are just providing the changes between a stock and a mod. If that weren't the case surely all stock riders would run 165? But, they don't due to longer cranks being more suited for a stock. So no, we're not being 'so f**king tight arsed jeez?'. In future; please provide posts that contribute to the thread rather than talking shit half the time.
ghostrider88
funny thing is that most of mod riders are using longer cranks now too.

aener
Find a middle-ground. Only try to help when you know what the hell you're talking about In response to OP: if you're buying all these different bits and bobs separately, you'll likely be better off looking for a second hand full-build. As has been discussed at length already, you CAN run most your mod parts on a stock, but it'll almost certainly ride horrendously. If you're looking at spending a fair wedge anyway, for a small amount more you'll probably get a decent, mid-range, second hand complete.
