Canardweb
Ok, as I have already told in another thread, I have problems with my 05 HS33. I want to get the piston out of the lever, but after searching the forum, it sounds like a swollen piston because of the water bleed. My problem is, I can't get the piston out. I tried pushing as much as I could on a syringe fixed to the brake but it still doesn't want to come out. I tried getting it with a tool, but the tool keeps slipping. Has anybody ever had that problem and found a way to fix it? Please help me!
trials hoe
a spoke should fit through the hole that you bolt you hose into, if it doesn't push out give it a tap, make sure your pushing against the piston though so you aren't scratching the cylinder bore! cai
The spoke method works well for '04 Magura's, not for the '05s. Edit: I remember somebody a while ago somehow fitting a track pump to the bleed hole, then simply pumping the piston out. Canardweb
So the spoke method won't work? My two levers are brand new, I really don't want to buy new ones...
SamKidney
Have you got any older lever units around? My 05 got stuck so I bled an old 04 lever unit to the 05 body/piston and pumped it out.
Cap
Try to attach a pump to the bleed hose and use the pressure from the pump to get it out.
harmertrials
Try to attach a pump to the bleed hose and use the pressure from the pump to get it out. This. Only way I managed to get mine out. Even after trying to melt the piston with a blowtorch.
bike_dummie
Try to attach a pump to the bleed hose and use the pressure from the pump to get it out. This, just done it now as i had the exact same problem as you If your hose is too small wrap some tape around the hose
CC12345678910
usually I put the hose in the presta side of the pump. and use the m8 port with a main line 'cos of the greater air volume. Also, slight safety tip. Fold the TPA rod into the lever blade and put the lever and bolt back in before you this method. This will then make it a two stage process, the piston will pop against the lever,(IME this is the 'dangerous' bit cos it takes the most pressure to do, 110 psi in one case), then you take the blade out and repeat. Aim the master into a corner with some foam padding or similar because that sh1t goes miles!! ha ha. Find the bits, lightly sand the piston (especially the bottom half, that's the bit that sticks) avoiding the O-ring like it's got plague, fit piston with a good smear of Vaseline and check for buttery movement with a screwdriver where the rod should go. Job should be mint Edited March 18, 2013 by CC12345678910
