PatJsy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3RL6oI1KLA&feature=youtu.be Not really a how to but pretty much all the steps you'll end up going through when you try those. I learnt rolling ones the other week but I wanted to try them from a standstill. It was a lot harder than I thought and I still had to cheat a little and give it a little kick each time

ooo
I really want to learn this move, but I'm too lazy to go to the park on the reg.
chimpanzyyyy
that's a mad move you said you come from bmx riding right? it's weird seeing you made this pretty crazy street move but seems to struggle on simple back wheel hops
PatJsy
that's a mad move you said you come from bmx riding right? it's weird seeing you made this pretty crazy street move but seems to struggle on simple back wheel hops You nailed it, I'm a BMXer trying out trials All the street trials stuff comes pretty naturally as it's all glorified BMX tricks really but I do find it hard to do pure trials stuff. I'm hoping to ride with proper trials riders in the next few months though so I should be able to do those things pretty soon hopefully Awesome, good to see the progression of it. Thanks man, I've nearly got them off the back wheel alone now (skip hop whip?), I'll post another video soon I really want to learn this move, but I'm too lazy to go to the park on the reg. I grew up on a little island, we didn't have a park for ages so I'm pretty sure I learnt them off the floor before I learnt fly out ones It just takes a bit of practice and a fair amount of commitment skills! Are you the Ali C? Pretty sure I've seen some video of you, I think you're the one who's got skills man! Ali C
haha thanks! Although I've been trying hop whips for a few years now and I'm still a fair way off them.
PatJsy
he has not the skills, he is the skills I'm a part time trials rider, I'm allowed not to know who's who haha thanks! Although I've been trying hop whips for a few years now and I'm still a fair way off them. I don't really pay attention to videos so I can't remember names and that but I'm sure I've seen some of you! Hop whips are a mind game really, if you're committed to it you'll have them in no time! Ali C
I've done footjam whips, but never a hop whip. I feel like I'm getting closer though, just need to commit and keep my feet in the air for longer and not send myself over the bars like I've done a few times

Best bit of advice is to keep your body high and the bike low!
Chaotic3vil
Sweet whips. They are a b**** on 24" street trials bike. After landing them fakie and static I was trying get rolling one's and it's so weird to transfer the weight around. Like you said it's a matter of mindset really. The trials way of doing stuff is quite different from BMX. Trials is long range kind of motion and bmx is short (pop) which ends up in awesome hang time to squeeze in stuff. To get that with 385mm CS and 1030 WB bike is so demotivating. Props man! Good luck with the trials part of riding. Thanks man, I found the rolling ones easier actually, I guess I felt more "at home". I actually bought a really short stem last week to make my bike feel more like a bmx. I don't know what CS AND WB mean but I ride an adamant frame which I think is a bit more for normal trials. I'd love to get one of the inspired bikes or even just the frame at some point, I think that'd suit my riding a bit more. A lot of my friends on the island I grew up on rode/ride trials so I'm hoping to learn some stuff from them when I come back for the summer http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/8880976/ Here's the bike I ride actually, if the guy who sold it sees this - thanks a lot! Chaotic3vil
Yeah I can see them being easier doing regular whips, unfortunately I learn them oppo which is hard to kick it around hitting the downtube instead of the chainstays. Still have to get my mind around them or just starting doing them regular. CS - Chain Stay length and WB - Wheel Base length Trials bike tend to have more leverage which translate into big CS and WB measures compared to BMX. Generally it will give you more room/leverage to get the power down and to roll on to bigger obstacles but it will turn fast movements slower if that makes sense. Older geo street trials bike like yours and the inspired fourplay Mk1 are in the middle, tending more to the trials side. New inspireds are tending more to the street side geo wise. Pretty sure Macaskill does oppo whips so you're not alone there I still ride bmx most of the time so I'm not really bothered, trials is just something to play with on the side. I'd like one of the newer inspired's though, they look rad! I can't justify spending so much on a bike though, maybe get a 2nd hand one at some point
PatJsy
I know this is probably not the right place to ask but don't suppose anyone here has some 24" forks they'd like to sell? Snapped mine yesterday doing "proper" trials
