Maintenance Justice
Finally got my new frame set. All City Electric Queen, fully rigid steel frame, single speed, 27+ (or 29). Wanted to take a big sidestep from the industry mantra and get something I actually wanted to ride. Loving it so far!
monkeyseemonkeydo
That's definitely different! Not sure my wrists would cope with a rigid front end though...

You take on Rocky descents by skipping about like a mountain goat rather than plowing through, it’s well good fun!
isitafox
My latest acquisition, On One Big Dog. Sold the full susser and got this for some more speedy runs on the road and light trails. And if I decide it's too hard I can get some forks to soften the front end up.
AdamR28
Looks nice that Dave, very much like my bike will be once I've built the new frame! Edit, just looked at full bike prices direct from PlanetX, unreal value! Also been riding full rigid recently and really enjoying it. As Ben says above, you just have to pick your way down rather than point and shoot. It makes the fun bits last longer! Have ridden everything I normally ride on the full susser these last few weeks, just a bit slower on the downs and miles faster on the ups.
isitafox
That's exactly what I thought, all the trails round here are what I rode in my teens on hand me down cheap rigid bikes so I know they're just as fun. Yeah couldn't really knock it at that price, tyres are a bit iffy but other than that it's spot on for now.
Mikee
@isitafox What forks are they? I want to get something like those for my hardtail MTB. Swap the forks and tyres around depending on what I'm riding.

monkeyseemonkeydo
So I decided to stealth my 2015 Works SCR a bit as previously there was a LOT of green (grips, pedals, bash guard, chain guide, stickers (frame, shock and forks), valve caps, saddle... You get the idea!). Have the paint to turn her sandy beige but couldn't be bothered with the strip so just put the black stickers on the army green (not great!) paint for now. Quite like it and will leave it like this for the time being! Brackets are 3D printed and fit the battery for my light, keeping it snug. BB mount iscg plate with the one up guide and 3D printed bash guard.
isitafox
Looks clean enough that Dave! Done the 5 mile commute on the Big Dog that I used to do daily on my Genesis CdF a few years back. I fully expected to be slightly slower because of the extra weight and tyres so an extra 7-8 mins doesn't bother me but the best bit is the fact it doesn't feel like hard work riding on the road.
Luke Rainbird
Looks good Dave. I've been keeping half an eye out for a cheap T-130 for Soph, seem to be great value for money.
Rip
I may be bending the rules here and taking the word 'bike' a bit literally... Trek Fuel (now has riser bars and Rockshox dropper post) Honda Grom (don't judge, it's so much fun) Yamaha MT09 (849cc Triple) Yamaha WR450F Supermoto (I actually no longer own this one but worth a mention as it was awesome) Azonic DS-1 (This is a replica I built of my do-it-all street/trials bike I learned trials on while growing up, sold for parts a couple of years ago) Edited March 14, 2021 by Rip
Punches
Loving my old Haro Mary lately. Terrible rear tyre. Front brake that's leaking and a back brake that desperately needs bleeding. Brilliant.
JT!
Got a 75% off deal on a pair of wheels for the fatbike, came with rotors tubes, cassette and tires. So now my fatbike is going to serve as my commuter for the season, and any road / light offroad adventures.
CurtisRider
I've grown tired of dull slack trail bikes and road riding I find difficult to enjoy for long as some knob always seems to want to kill me which has really taken the enjoyment out of riding for me, I miss the days of nervous twitchy bikes that are simple and I'm not having to spend silly money on for repairs. I've always liked the idea of trying a cyclocross/gravel bike out after taking my road bike off road a few times but I didn't really want to spend too much money incase I don't enjoy it. I have an abundance of old bike crap in my sheds so I figured it would be nice to use some of it to make something fun... and here it is: I have absolutely loved riding this thing. it's got a 90's MTB feel to it and its surprisingly agile. I'm now enjoying riding again for the first time in ages, hopefully i'll lose some of my lockdown podge now. On-One Inbred 26" frame resprayed sidehop hydra air (2000) Novatech singlespeed rear hub, not sure what the rims are! 700x32 Schwalbe cx tyres BB5R calipers with tektro levers Flared Ritchey bars Chris King Headset KMC Kool chain Total cost £80 I'm hoping to find a rigid fork for it although I'm warming towards the mega flexy sidehops!

Lol to the autocorrect! Don't think I could cope with the drop bars on that! Sprung tensioner/old mech plus a dropper would be on my list too. So long as you enjoy it though!

I had a sprung tensioner and i kept getting chain slip as the chain had to be a bit long with that gearing, I'm fitting some different cranks soon so I may get away with a tighter chain and a sprung tensioner with the new ratio. Dropper isn't really necessary round here in East Anglia, it's pretty flat here!

Ali C
I tried a Fidlock but it rattled when riding and the noise annoyed me enough to not want to use it again...was it just mine or does yours have any rattle too?
isitafox
No this one is solid, I do know they changed the mount on the bottle recently though so maybe that was it?

Coming back to this, just been over Jacob's Ladder and some very rocky descents and it worked perfectly Definitely impressed with the setup! CurtisRider
I have swapped the cranks over and modified a Hope bash to cover the chainring/ultra large spider on the XTR cranks. Now waiting for a 13t rear cog to get the gearing just right and that should mean a far shorter chain too
isitafox
Another upgrade completed at work last night. 2nd hand pair of Stans Flow mk3 rims on some Pro 4 boost hubs (bargain at £130 via the cyclescheme) means a top wheelset for well under £250! Still using OBM's wheelbuilding guide on here too!
