This isn't "mine", but I'm borrowing it long term. Haven't had a chance to go out on it yet, but looking forward to it. It's 30 odd years old but very tidy!

Out of interest, what should I expect to pay for something similar to this?

If I get on with this one I'd like to get my own, so I'm less worried about breaking things and would have the chance to respray it etc...

All depends on the running gear. Old campy stuff costs an absolute fortune 2nd hand though you can usually pick up a pretty decent old roadie for anything from £70-200 depending on condition and build. Worth having a look on Retrobike for stuff like that though.

How have you been getting on with it?

Had my first go on it today. Rode half way to work and back, about 12 miles - it makes light work of most things, that's for sure!

Took a while to get used to how twitchy the front end feels and the riding position is a million miles from all the jump bikes I've had.

Felt good though, I'd definitely like my own one to rack some miles up on but I'm still torn between road bike or trail-friendly MTB...

My recent baby, need to get my fancy camera on it instead of phone pictures.

The street trials bike (WTP trust / rust)

It has an interesting axle situation. 3 washers, stripped nut as spacer and an inspired lock on as the final washer.

I made it work.

Also a cannondale which I brutally destroyed over its time (cracked it around where the sus brace meets the seat post)

I miss that orange shit, it took so much abuse and many #chilled xc rides with beaden and the boys

Quick update on my intense.

Got the Rebas off Paul and fired with a new +5 headset from on one it's retained the same geometry albeit with 15mm less travel; if the shorter travel causes a problem then I might have to look for something longer which would be a shame as they are pretty sweet forks!

Weight should be about 29.5lbs now, will get a proper weight when I next take it to work :)

Later in the summer I'm hoping to get a narrow wide and clutch mech so I can lose the mrp system1, a few more grams saved with less noise and rolling resistance.

I've not had a chance to ride it yet! The problems I had with manuals is because the vpp tends to suck up and squat which sucked the front end down. With the motion control damper it should ride a bit higher in the travel than the bombers and it shouldn't suck down as much, I've also raised the bars by 10mm so instant lofting should be easier :)

edit: Ridden to work today, the lockout works wonders for pedal bob, close the poplock, and set about 80% floodgate and you get nice LSC damping with it opening up on anything big. Pop the compression off for a fully active butter smooth fork.

Just weighed it and the whole bike comes in at 29.7lb pretty happy with that, it was 30.5lb last time so a good chunk off from the forks!

edit 2: yup it lifts much easier, even more so when locked out, bunny hopping onto a curb I looped out and landed like a sack of shit on my back in front of a queue of traffic! Smashed my lunchbox in my bag and cut a small hole through one of the back pockets where my stainless travel cup was (now also dented). Cut my elbow and the back of my pelvis is stiffening up :D

Updated the Xc bike. Few new bits like

post-29242-0-01267000-1397227117_thumb.j

Bought some new brakes, complete with rotors and grips off chain reaction for £36 posted. My avids are knackered, and this was a miles cheaper alternative to getting new pads and rotors and a rebleed. For a laugh I've also put my trialtech highrise bars on thinking it'd be miles too high. But it rides absolutely mint. They feel ace. The upsweep over normal mountain bike bars feels good after riding my mod for so long. Next on the list is a new chainset

Anybody else use muc off? I started using it about 4-5 months ago given how wet and shitty our winters been and I really really like it. I don't use it after every ride but I use it once a week and I'm really impressed with it! I get some flack from folk for it but I can't see anything wrong with keeping it clean and well oiled. Interested to know if anyone else is using bike huts equivalent or anything else?

i use fenwicks fs1, seems to do the same job mucoff does dut costs 1/10th of the price.
