Rusevelt
All Deng has to do is make a cromo outer. Problem solved

Rusevelt
What about that 120click freewheel. Anyone tried and tested that one out?
LiamWood!
Ha, seems I don't have to do anything these days to get people slagging me, this is way less effort now! It is the norm though, wouldn't expect anything less from you. SL's are shite, thread closed.
ghostrider88
Really? I know a mate who runs a try all 108,9 freewheel on his bike, it skips all the time. Sounds so shit aswell! I was lucky, very lucky and stupid when I sold it
SamKidney
Feck me, whining buggers. I can't believe there's an arguement/disagreement/whatevers going on here over a subject that in a sense you all agree with. SL's are on the shite side, but so are most other freewheels that are available now anyway. Using the "my 500 year old tensile/acs/echo/try-all is ace blah blah blah" story is pointless. No one freewheel is guaranteed to be as good as the next, as is the case with most components in trials. My current SL is fine (touch wood), and has been for around half a year now. I would still choose one over any of the current alternatives. If it goes in weeks, the warranty is there. If it goes later, unlucky. Its suprising most freewheels dont shit themselves earlier than they do given the stick they take. Some people on here make me laugh.
Rusevelt
he already does/is/has Well when is it coming out? My broken old 1st gen SL, is nothing more than a retired paperweight.
Ali C
It is the norm though, wouldn't expect anything less from you. I'd like to point out that I haven't and you have, so yeah, pot/kettle. Rusevelt: They have always been steel outers. Even the TI ones are steel (just the inner core is Ti).
Rob.
It is the norm though, wouldn't expect anything less from you. SL's are shite, thread closed. no there not, best freewheel i have had to tell theeee truth, representing a silva 2k11 echo sl freewilly never skipped a heart beat. sounds like a boss too. ghostrider88
Some people either don´t read at all aj just can´t figure that out it seems, so for the last time, THEY AREN´T THE SAME FREEWHEEL THEY USED TO BE.STOP SAYING THEY ARE GOOD, THEY AREN´T AND MOST OF THEM FAIL VERY QUICKLY.FACT. CC12345678910
So to help the guy out... and because i am interested too. With preconceptions about a pro2 (My choice of forward motion) being consistent/better at the mo aside; what is the best freewheel at the moment? what do we reckon? bing
Well going on the things I've seen recently, its not an echo sl. I'd go with tensile 60/96 click, but I run a tryall 108.9. It's been fettled though to make it run smooth, ie break the welds off the lockring and taking it off to clean the freewheel out and put decent quality lube in it
gage-mann
i have the black sl and its 15 month old, had to replace about 3 or 4 pawls upto now though with the old sl's that ive had that blew up haha, made a washer out of one of the old sl bodys (the part where the lockring goes on) stopped the inner body cracking soo far? only had one outer go on me though and ive had 6, 4 inner bodys cracked and 1 outer snapped
dezmtber
Get a tensile 60 and degrease the grease out oil it and loctite the lock ring. Cheaper and relable. Mine skipped a little during bedding in, but now 1 year later it hasn't skipped for months. Having said that I think all the frerwheels on the market would be the same relable freewheel if setup right and bedded in carefully. There will always be a small amount of faulty freewheels out there thou so don't be supprised if you get a bad one. Some earlier tensile 96 freewheels had issues with the pawl locating pins snapping
