Dave Anscombe
But you need items/tools to make music, gear for hiking, materials for arts? Of course you do !-Money at the end of the day is the ruler of this planet.....but its up to you if you let it run your life...people chase money like its the ultimate prize..when infact living/life its self is the prize we can all attain ......Do you live in a tent and get by on wild berries too? Your not far off to be honest !
N.Wood
Does your tent come with a broadband hookup?
Jolfa
I would assume, based on the way you talk, you live either in the lowest rent place available or with your parents still? I don't think anyone regards money as life's ultimate prize, more the luxuries and lifestyle that money can buy you... More money = richer life than sat in your parents shed smoking the last scraps of the 8th you only bought a day ago.
Sam Nichols
Imagine the world we would live in if everybody shared your philosophy on 'less work, more play'. For one thing all those of you who have mentioned about sacking off responsibilities and just going travelling, how on earth would you travel if there weren't pilots dedicating shit loads of hours & money to pilot training, what about the engineers maintaining the aircraft who will be working night shifts and 10 hour days - should they readjust their outlook on life? Sam Nichols
That'll be down to half assed skim reading then! I think I read what I expected to see people typing! I'll put that down as an 'in before quit your job and go travelling' then.

Greetings
I've never understood people who complain about a model of life or for that matter a model of anything. You don't need to fit in, it's your choice to do whatever you want. But if you find that no work and all play is not possible then I'm sure you can answer the question why. And it's not the society that's to blame but you, your choices, upbringing or whatever that has influenced your attributes as a potential employee/employer. I mean this literally, not in a harsh way. Two examples from my group of close friends - you do f**k all until your 16, a few years later end up in a factory doing a repetitive task. You have no time for anything other than work and can't afford much fun either. Example 2: you come up with an idea for a website, get together a group of people to develop it, 2 years later you sell it for over a million quid. JT!
I never get why this really is an issue. If you want to live in a house, have a bed, have food etc you have to work. It's your choice if you want to go without these things. If you want a shitter car, and a smaller home and crappy food then you can work less. People who are very rich get to do things that poor people don't. Ever experience zero G's? Can't do that without some kind of success in your life... or working an extra 10 hours at your shitty job a week for 3 years to be able to. Irritates me when people talk about money as if it's something bad. Every culture and society will always end up with money to some degree because it's just a better way or trading shit. I don't want to have to go into my local store and swap wool for food. That's stupid and wastes time.

bing
Wife + kids + family = slave nolifer. F it. f**k off. Life is what you make it. You can either grab it by the balls and do something about it, or you can be just another number and watch the world go by. I've had it bad where the mother of my son cheated on me, and nearly had a nervous breakdown due to this and various other things. But all is well now due to a bit of pulling my head out of my arse. I work 12 hours a day, never have to work a Friday, get paid decent enough money to do what I want with it, have an awesome 4 year old son, and the woman who is the love of my life. And I'm now riding the best I've ever ridden in my life. I am not a slave no lifer, sounds like you are the one stuck in a rut, and are trying to justify it by spouting all this shite. f**king grow a pair and sort your life out. Max Quinn
Wife + kids + family = slave nolifer. F it. I'm not saying you have to do it mate, but if you ask me that's the reason the vast majority of people work hard. The joys and benefits of family and being able to provide a good life for them outweigh the cons of working. It's a choice people make of their own free will, and if you don't want kids then one you can do without. Don't think I don't sympathise with your way of thinking, there just comes a point where you realise you either.... 1) Get involved with some job that's purely for money. 2) Realise you are going to have to live without a lot of luxuries, experiences and be a bit of an outcast from society in general. 3) Work your arse off and make your hobbies your work. Muel
I can never understand how people (in this case the OP) can't get how life works... You want to do things You need money to do things Earn or borrow money Do things Pay back any money you borrowed Grow old remembering the doing of many things Almost anything in life that you want to do can be represented as money, say you spend a day walking in the countryside, it costs you any travel money to get there, the amount your boots/clothes wearing out, and crucially, the time that you're not spending earning more money. Tomm
Let's not forget some people even enjoy their work - they find it rewarding and interesting. But no, you're right. These guys are nolifers.
Simpson
Or you could try exceed in a career working your nuts of so that when you do get time to enjoy yourself you actually can, instead of sitting in being pennyless and bored shitless. hI-OOPS-CAPS
If you can think of a better future and work towards it by changing then yes, you could live how you want. Not everyone is priviledged enough to do this though. On the other hand you could just dream of a better future and winge on forums about how bad you may have it now.
