Mark W
The thing I find with the K710s though is that they stretch loads. It means they're good value for money in that after a couple of weeks you almost end up with double the amount of chain, but while they're getting stretched out I'd imagine they won't handle the same amount of load as when they're box-fresh? The Z610HX and Z510HX chains seem to be more resistant to stretching though, so in that they're not getting mega long I'd assume that they 'keep their strength', so to speak. That's going from my experiences with them anyway - I used to snap Kools pretty regularly 'back in the day' when I was just doing TGS shit all the time, but since switching to the Z-series chains I've had virtually no problems at all.
dezmtber
Of the 510 breaks at 1200 kg it pretty much tells me the 610 should be mental strong. I an just saying if you fit it correct and oil.it regular and are light on the bike. You can like me use a much lighter chain. Yes a mechanic can run this chain because I do this thing called looking after the chsin rather than bashing and throwing salt at it. I am not daying you guys don't look after your bikes but the evidence says it all. My bike doesn't break where yours does.
Danny00135
Right I've done a diagram, Chains snap because they become brittle over time, The diagram shows the reason chains become brittle, A chain that takes a longer time to become brittle is a chain that will last longer.. Chains that take longer to stretch will save your teeth.... We're not talking instant tensile strength here.... Z610
Jake.
Beautiful diagram Dan, my mind has never been more fulfilled.
SamKidney
I use park tools mini brute at home and the brute at work. I split around 10 chains a week ? I use the split link suplyed with the Kmc Kool sl chain and guess what my freind snapped one Kool sl it took 9 months and was due to hitting the chain on a rock and it held up the rest of the ride on half the link in tackt, we realized it had a broken link at home checking the bike over before the next ride. Replace the chain and good for another 9 months, or 6 if my mate replaced his as often as I do.I know why u broke a Kool sl. You reused the pins after removing them, don't do this if you get the kool sl, use the split link. If I had enough sl split links I would run a chain made purely of split links for a comp just to prove a point You don't know why, because the breakage was no where near where I joined the chain on both occasions, and I used the split links. Chain is regularly lubed, cleaned etc... especially in this weather. I may be no "pro" bike mechanic, but I know how to take care of a bike. FamilyBiker
I have done done reasarch for you Breaking force to snap all the chains Kmc 510 hx 1200kg Kmc 710 1300kg Kmc 710 sl 950kg I will never put 1 ton through a Kool sl so I am not changing. Until I am convinced otherwize k710 has 12700N tensile load ability, and i managed to snap one while jumping on my dj bike just to buy some cigs. this values ar measured with a new chain and a hydraulic pulling machine, wich is nowhere near practical use in trials,we got pulsing loads. hence he´s right: Chains snap because they become brittle over time, A chain that takes a longer time to become brittle is a chain that will last longer.. We're not talking instant tensile strength here.... Z610 (or wippermann 7R8) :wink2:
ghostrider88
We get it, you love that chain. Now, could you please tell your friend to answer f**kin messages? Thanks.
FamilyBiker
there you have the reason he didnt answer...he expected who it could be. did i something to you to make you insult me?
ghostrider88
How did I insult you?And it´s not even me who sent that message...2weeks is long enough for reply, especially after he stated his frame will be made in three weeks and that was more than a 6weeks ago! FamilyBiker
isnt telling someone who´s not responsible for your problems to "tell his friend to answer..." a bit insulting? am i your email assistant? everything i did regarding marino was voluntary, and everyone who pm´ed me had his replies from marino. but they didnt told me the way you did, they kindly asked me. ghostrider88
Now, but it looks like you´re his assistent since you have been advertising his job in every topic you could stating you are his friend. Waiting 2weeks for answer wether he started to work on his frame whan based on his reply it should have been done by then is not very professional if you ask me. Like many people told you, he should get someone to answer mails at least or he is going to lose his rep for good, and it´s not easy to get it back. FamilyBiker
lets not bring the anger of marinos customers into half of the threads i´m posting in,this is whats decreasing his rep imo.was it too difficult to write me a pm like hey you marino isnt answering, could you ask when the next opportunity is going on,thanks(insert name) ??? i would ask,a lot of people made the experience. ghostrider88
I´m sorry if I insulted you even though I honestly don´t know how could that happen. It´s not like he should answer this one mail, he should answer all of them, just one sentance" I have a lot of work lately, I will get back to you as soon as I can, thanks." . Don´t tell me this would take more than 10minutes since he can just copy/paste this and everyone would be happier.

Blake
KMC Z610 HX Ordered!!!!! should be light I hope Doesn't matter how heavy it is, don't want to skimp out on a chain for a sport that uses it for every move. . .
