dngr2self
I was wondering if anybody has any tips for getting the position right with a half bash. I've put them on a couple of times and they always end up miles out after the sprocket/ffw tightens up. Thanks.
Danny00135
I normally just guess, Then have a little cheer if it's spot on You have no idea how irritating this is to someone with (mild) OCD haha
Jake.
Tighten it up in a vice with a ffw tool first then put it in the cranks and push your weight on it, I usually do it from around 90 degrees where I want it.
isitafox
It's things like this that led me to get the tryall halfring as it has cutouts for the crank arm to sit in place properly!
dngr2self
It's such a daft little thing to set up but so annoying.

The tryall bashring cracked on the cutouts for me, never getting another one.
isitafox
Is that the new style though? I had the older one which was solid I think.

Jake.
Is that the new style though? I had the older one which was solid I think. Mine was the drilled one, it cracked/snapped on the ring that slides onto the crank.
Blake
There must be a way to put an Allen key or something in the way to stop it moving.
Jake.
There must be a way to put an Allen key or something in the way to stop it moving. Won't work for left foot forward riders.
Martin Reynolds
Mine was the drilled one, it cracked/snapped on the ring that slides onto the crank. Glad im not the only one that had issues. The lip to hold it away from the freewheel destroyed itself because it was to thin, so i ended up filing it off and using a washer to space it out

Think that through again dude! When you put a half bash on, the crank tightens onto the bash, the crank goes on clockwise, the bash stays in place so therefore it's going anti clockwise. I put the half bash halfway behind the crank and when it tightens it goes into the correct place... Where am I going wrong?
isitafox
Yup forget that! I did try using cable ties to hold a bash in place once, a bit of grease between the bash and freewheel helps stop it moving.
