Up to fronts. Approaching?

Right, basically I have just started side hopping the right way (to my right, left foot forward) and It already feels ten times better and the sidehops are smoother and more accurate, I've only been doing them "properly" for 2 days and I'm only about 4 inches the height I could get when side hopping to the left.

However, I know struggle to up to front as I can't turn as easily to the right, so I have to approach them with more the obstacle on the left of me.

Does doing up to fronts to "the wrong side" have any disadvantages like sidehops do?

Should I just do them to the left or should I put more and more time into learning how to do them to my right?

Thanks in advance guys :)

Why don't you try approaching the up to front straight on? I always get them on/off, but when I do them I've never really done them at an angle as it's best to try and hit the wheel dead on the corner of the obstacle, but if you do it from an angle the wheel will most likely just slip from you.

However I'm shite at up to fronts so I may not be the best advice.

Try this but find it proper hard on a python unless I go at it really fast and do a flat-land pedal up first.

That's because it's a Python.

For serious, the more you do it the more comfortable you'll get. Thanks to the re-application of brakes - and ups to front being fun - I did f**king loads in the brief period I had the power to do so, and at first I had to work out which way I wanted to do it, but if you get comfortable you can kind of do it either side really. If you've got a reasonable amount of control over your front wheel then you should be good to go whichever angle you go at it from.

Thanks mark, so I shouldn't worry about it being a problem that I do it to the left?

Learn the the straight on way, any other way is just teaching yourself bad habits and it will only make learning the correct way harder

When you can get the straight on every time then you can always try different angles etc

Dave, should I learn rolling up to fronts or up to fronts with a hop first?
