ashleys sugden
its getting annoying now, both wheels on my echo. they just keep going and going. any reason for this? or are they just built up shit? i have no idea and its annoying! please help
N.Wood
They will just keep on going until you get the wheels re-built. The spokes get old, lose their flex, snap, you replace it and it moves around to the next weakest and so on. Minus whale re-build both wheels and call it a day. N.Wood
Sure, there are lots of good guides on the interwebs. EDIT: http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/topic/80777-how-to-build-a-wheel/ There she blows.

Blake
Did you buy a full build echo? could be wank spokes. Get some ace ones, building isn't that hard at all
Jake.
Built my own wheels for the limey 4 just cause I wanted black spokes, takes a bit of time and if you make a mistake you'll have to debuild and re-build it again. I took my wheels to the local bike shop before truing it up completely just to make sure it was all good and they said it was good for a first ever wheelbuild. It's a nice feeling using wheels you built.

Get some ace ones, building isn't that hard at all yeah they are a standard build, and the front wheels spokes are laced up weird, the disc side cross each other but the other side dont? Blake
Pretty common for wheels to have 2x or 3x one side then radial the other But yeah, I'd reccomend some more heavy duty spokes off tarty, should resolve your problem

albert_03
Truing your wheels is only part of the story. High,UNIFORM spoke tension is key to making a strong wheel, and as a bonus it will stay true longer.

ashleys sugden
the bike shop has given me some spacer protector things to put on the end of the spokes to help keep them strong. i rode for 3 hours tonight and they are still fine. customrider-Rhys
Spacer protector thingies? could it be spoke washers? the ones that go on the spoke heads at the hub.
FamilyBiker
i dont know if that relly solves the problem or just gives the spokes time to bed into the washer and then break... those washers are for new builds in certain circumstances, not a repair thing Edited February 15, 2013 by FamilyBiker
ashleys sugden
could it be spoke washers? the ones that go on the spoke heads at the hub. thats what they are.. they said the disc tabs can be worn on the inside which causes the spokes to snap. jigga
I had the same problem with Echo spokes on my Echo urban 24". Spokes seemed shit quality. I also found when the wheel was put in a proper wheel jig the rim wasnt made even. When the wheel sat in the jig, one edge or side sat higher than the other. which meant when i was landing on it, the slightly lower side was taking nore load initially, than the higher, hence breaking spokes every week. i'd already replaced the echo spokes with DT Swiss and the problem didnt go away. had to replace the rim.
