ChrisTrials2012
I'm gonna do a pretty big(for me) drop gap in the next few days. It'll be from 5ft up down to a pallet 8ft away on a grass bank. Any advice, on how to land, or the setup, or even what type of mindset to have? harmertrials
Just don't let go of the bars and should be alright. Also try not to bottle out, will probably end up worse off than attempting it.
FamilyBiker
i´d say jump down with a light pedal kick, then stretch your backwheel down and in front of you, aiming the pallet with it.
ChrisTrials2012
Should I roll my bars back a bit, so my wrists don't get hurt if I f**k it up?
FamilyBiker
no, dont change setup! just stay smooth in your legs and damp the impact with them. is smooth the right term in this context? i´m german, bad grammar is usual. Lewis Gething
Start smaller and build up to it? If you are asking how to approach it you should probably be thinking of doing smaller/lower gaps first.
LiamWood!
Land the same as you would for any other gap? Don't let go, look at where your landing throughout the gap.
N.Wood
If you have to ask, you're probably not ready for it... Do one from 3 foot up to 5 foot away, then 4 foot up to 7 foot away, and if they go well then use the same technique and you'll be ok. ChrisTrials2012
I don't have much choice on what I can drop. Its in my back garden and I'd like to do it. I'm pretty tough, and I've been working on my technique for the last few days, and practising bails. I'm ready for it, just want to know from people who've done lots of these. ChrisTrials2012
Forget it, I kind of answered my own question, I'll have no trouble doing it.
dezmtber
I find a good warm up on stuff your confident on 1st helps get you in the mood. And when you feel your riding well on the day, just go for it.

Danny00135
Relax.. I always tense up when doing drop gaps.. which results in a very sketchy looking horrible stiff thing...

315r
If you have to ask, you are not ready to do it. Drops can be practiced with progression. Anyway, if you finally decide to do it without warranty of success, you should video it.
