AndrewEH1
Worth a watch and a read, I never knew all of what is said in this video: http://www.112.ie/Registering_your_mobile_phone/143#.URlGuFrxQVk
Muel
Thanks for sharing, all stuff I should know really. (Being into climbing, walking, mountaineering etc).
monkeyseemonkeydo
Cheers for that- certainly never heard about the SMSing thing. Similar to Sam- as someone who spends a fair amount of time messing about on the hills it's good to know.
RobinJI
Interesting stuff. I knew about the signal stuff, but didn't have a clue you could text them! Have any of you actually registered for it yet?
AndrewEH1
I registered, hopefully will never use it though
RobinJI
Yeah, hopefully not. Only had to call 999 once so far, and it's not something I'd like to repeat. (Luckily everything was fine in the end that time.) Been getting back in the hills riding a fair bit recently, so it'll be a good thing to have, I always feel a bit nervous when I'm miles from the car, the car's miles from anywhere and my phone's showing no signal. Rich J
Thanks for this. I spend a lot of time in stupid places. Really handy stuff to know.
monkeyseemonkeydo
Yeah registered as well. Stangely you text 'Register' to 112 then it asks you to confirm by sending 'Yes' to 999...
shercofray
Done, thanks for sharing!
JT!
Interesting, only thing I knew from this video is that pressing 999 or 112 will override any pin number etc. Also I'm pretty sure that every UK mobile phone has to legally be able to call 999 without a sim.
