SamKidney
What made you go for the Echo cranks out of interest? Fairly light, pretty strong and dont cost a fortune would be my guess.
harmertrials
Exactly as sam stated. Wanted the new sl's but didn't come in black. Would've killed my build slapping silver cranks on. Also got them dirt cheap off tunni. Edited February 11, 2013 by harmertrials
BradJohnson
Fairly light, pretty strong and dont cost a fortune would be my guess. But the Tr's only come in 160's and 170's Edit: Just read above post, i'd of also got them if they where cheap. BradJohnson
Why would I need more than 170? More leverage with longer cranks
harmertrials
The difference between a 170 and a 175 crank is next to nothing in terms of leverage. I've ran 160's on 24 and stock in the past with no noticeable difference.
Danny00135
You serious his front brake is a fork snapper! On about his rear, his front one reminds me of a Chihuahua..
SamKidney
Longer cranks are all well and good for static moves, but anything rolling moves above snails pace make putting power down a chore. I'd go no higher than 170's on a stock on 18-15 gearing, but thats my preference. I can roll to rear higher on my bro's Limey 320 than my Ice too, as he's running 160's as against my 170's. The difference between a 170 and a 175 crank is next to nothing in terms of leverage. I've ran 160's on 24 and stock in the past with no noticeable difference. I'd definitely say there is a difference. Just after I'd built my Ice I had 175 SL's on it while I waited to get my freewheel switched onto my 170 Try-Alls, and the difference in how it feels putting power down in rolling moves is there for sure. Less so for static moves.

I struggle with taps and straight up to rear's because it feels like my gear ratio is too light. maybe i'm the one who needs different cranks. Awesome for static stuff, utter shite for rolling moves.... Preferred 170's. I'd even try 165's.
