Ash-Kennard
hey guys, out riding today, ripped a knobble off my 2 year old der kaiser. looking for another good rear tyre but hoping to save abit of weight and maybe increase some bounce. ive never punctured the der kaiser, which is good because to get my back wheel out i have to take my crank off. effort... so puncture resistance is a must. gripwise, i have been happy with the continental from day 1 never slips been an excellent tyre but time for a change. looking on tarty there is nothing that looks as good as the der kaiser unfortunately, but just wondering if anyone else has any other offerings
N.Wood
Personally I'd go with a DK.. If you mainly ride street you coud get away with a stiky lite but I find they roll too much and don't offer the grip of a DK on natural. A good old maxxis minion / highroller in super tacky is another option, but again they arn't as good for natural. 2.5 single ply with a dh tube could be bouncier / lighter? Martin Reynolds
Rain king / mud king? would be similar in weight/ puncture proof.
ghostrider88
Rain king / mud king? would be similar in weight/ puncture proof. It´s the same tire, just different tread pattern. Stick to DK/DB, nothing comes close.
Martin Reynolds
It´s the same tire, just different tread pattern. so its a different tyre?
ghostrider88
Tread pattern doesn´t mean much in trials, carcas and coumpound does though
Ash-Kennard
so basically just get another DK?

dave33
Rain king is a different tyre. You got 2 choices. Get a try all and hope you don't pinch. They are good unless you run them flat Dk is amazing. If you want lighter cut it down a bit
ghostrider88
Rain king is a different tyre. Sure, different name I know.
Jake.
I've ran stiky lite and rubber queen 2.4, both seemed decent for street. The tryall seemed to grip better though but not as bouncy, but cause I'm riding street more I'm using the rubber queen.
N.Wood
Both pinch like a motherf**ker though. f**k that if you gotta take your crank off to change a tube.
0zzy
get a der kaiser/der baron or try all sticky lite. id get a der kaiser though and cut it down slighty..
ghostrider88
Both pinch like a motherf**ker though. f**k that if you gotta take your crank off to change a tube. Yeah even with a downhill tube it´s easier to pinch them than DK with superlight tube and the weight is pretty much the same with this setup. Not really worth it. Edit: In fact even with freeride tube sticky lite is heavier than DK+superlight tube(schwalbe 130g). Touch wood but no punctures with the stiky lite in 2 months and none with the Queen on the first ride.
BradJohnson
Conti Rubber Queens are bad ass. They offer plenty of grip as well as bounce, but they need to be used with a DH tube the reduce the chance of pinch flats.
dave33
Sure, different name I know. Really? Iv used both zzzzzz

Yeah they fold even if you run very high pressures and grip isn´t even close to DK.

Mr Curve
Really enjoy my try-all over my old Michelin right now. I think tarts are doing a discount on them if bought as a pair.
