SamKidney
Depends. I'm a huge fan of discs on a mod. Can't beat them I reckon. I've always found that magura's work better on bigger wheels. My mod is running a rear mag now, and its good but always needs a fresh grind to work how I want it to. However put it on a 24"/26"... same pads, clamps, lever etc... it works a million times better, right down to a dead grind. Mod - Disc, without a shadow of a doubt the best option in my opinion. 24" - Magura or Disc, both work really well on that wheelsize. 26" - Magura. They are fantastic. Vee brakes win on every wheelsize though. Just not mine. I can't set them up for shit.
alex-trials-boy
Same as above realy. Ive ran both maggie and disc on a mod and prefered dual disc by far! Was running top spec maggies 4 finger levers, tnn pads all round etc and then upgraded to Shimano Saints and would recomend them over anything!! I had a few problems to begin with but eventually they worked and they worked WELL!!! Only had maggie on my 24" but from what i remember it worked well. Again good pads with a gind etc worked well. More people are running dual disc on their 24's now adays. My current bike 26" front disc (avid bb7 with 203 rotor) works too well hahaa and rear maggie, 4 finger lever koxx red pads on a very dead grind works good, quite surprised actually grind is pretty much smooth and the brake still works very well. Lewis Gething
More people are running dual disc on their 24's now adays. Upon what evidence do you base that statement? The vast majority of people use dual rim on their 24s.
alex-trials-boy
Only on more tgs rigs most new inspired etc are running dual disc

aener
If one was actually better than the other then no-one would use the other one, would they?

BradJohnson
Set your brake up well and it works well. Set your brake up badly, it works badly. I love dual disc but the lack of noise makes me loose confidence. I love the bite of the magura and the feel of the lever but I keep breaking them. Sods law really. shercofray
Why start the same topic twice. You've only made a few posts and I can't stand you.http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/topic/180313-whats-better-double-disk-or-magura-rim-brake/#entry2488478 Edited February 5, 2013 by shercofray

ogre
Front disc rear rim brake ***... some modulation and all the power when you need it on the front and a bit of an economy on pads with discs... and nice light powerful rim brake on the rear with some confidence inspiring honk when you lock it up... For weight saving dual rim brake is the winner...
ghostrider88
Vee brakes win on every wheelsize though. Just not mine. I can't set them up for shit. funny. You are right though. Once you get used to different feel of disc brake on mod they are the best option. If one was actually better than the other then no-one would use the other one, would they? If only it was so easy...
