isitafox
As the title says, will a 28h disc wheel be safe or am I at risk of destroying it from the stresses of using the disc?
Jake.
It's about 12.5% weaker than a 32h.
ghostrider88
It´s ok.
FamilyBiker
2-cross,3-cross? i´d go for 2 as the angle between spokes and nipples will be less weird.
ghostrider88
At least on the disc side I would go for 3x...
FamilyBiker
imagine to have at least 12% more pulling force on the spokes when braking, then imagine the spokes beeing bent due to the angle the nipple would have with 3x. ghostrider88
I can imagine spokes beeing ripped out of the hub flange with 2x crossed spokes.
isitafox
Thanks guys you've answered my question. I'll give 28h a miss!
FamilyBiker
I can imagine spokes beeing ripped out of the hub flange with 2x crossed spokes. !!! ... ??? i can imagine spokes changing their angle to the hub and nipples ,when the hub is stopped and the rest of the wheel is trying to continue rotating because its under load. hence a 2 cross would come near to a tangential angle when braking,in 3cross spokes would end in an angle over tangential, beeing bent due to that, not pulled only. in this i assume you got a hub flange over 45mm diameter and a rim under 510mm e.r.d.(most 24 inch dirt, street, trials combos except the ones with assymetrical flanges???) isitafox, give it a try,dt has 28 disc enduro wheels and they work.
