paul_stuart
Did the 1st step and bought a bike ( diamondback tekkiya) Unfortunately I got ripped off . I believe the bottom bracket is to blame as both cranks are wobbling side to side with each other . What do I replace it with (cheap as possible . Make model and link if poss . ) Also the previous owner has taken away the gears and has just put a single speed chain on the cog happy with a single speed bike but surely I don't just leave it like this ?? I've just started and already I'm regretting it . Please if u can help me . Thanks very much
Danny00135
Are you sure it's the bottom bracket? It could be your cranks, Are they ISIS or Square taper? Edited February 1, 2013 by Danny00135
shercofray
Is it square taper of Isis bb? What is your problem with the single speed set up?
Lewis Gething
I think it'll be a square taper because that's what my Tekiya was.. Also, modern trials bikes aren't really meant to have gears
hI-OOPS-CAPS
Just be patient and you'll find reasonable options. Are the crank bolts tightened? There's no prob with single speed either?
dezmtber
i think you will need a single speed cog and spacer kit it will help out with weight on the rear wheel as i am asuming they have just removed the gear shifter and mech and cut the chain and kept the rear cogs with the full 8 spd cassette
paul_stuart
Is it a square taper i need then ( I'm a cycl trials dunse ) Yeah the single speed is not problem it's just is it ok to just leave it like it is ?

ogre
it may just need tightening up. try tightening the crank bolts first; see if it persists, then you know its your BB, if your new to bikes in general take it to a local bike shop, pay them to look/sort it. but ask if they'll show you how/what they do so you'll know in the future...
