Caustic Soda (King Headset)

Hey people,

Was just wondering whether the use of caustic soda on a king headset would remove the entirety of the paint, but leave behind the laser etched logos? And also, if this works, would a coat of lacquer retain the rawed finish- despite no paint being applied?

Cheers!

[PS- it's gold, and I'm looking for any other colour so if you want to swap and save the hassle of potentially ruining an awesome headset, let me know ;) ) Haha.

yep caustic will leave the logo's as i belive there laser etched on! will be an easy little job.

you could shine it up and lacquer it to keep its shine, but up to you really

be careful with caustic though, that stuffs lethal, use proper protection, gloves and sfuff, dont breath it in if you can

Yeh proper protection would be used at all times, i wasn't sure about the lasing etching as to how far down the soda actually removes markings

Will leave the logos 100%

We need a third opinion now for a deciding vote haha!

no caustic wont remove laser etching! a mate of mine did his try all h hub, and his echo sl frame, both have laser etched logos and they are still on there, not even faded!

Ok sweet cheers boy!

I've stripped 2 echo headsets exactly the same way, just remove the headset before the caustic eats too deep.

Awesome, so once the gold has come off, get it out sharpish?!

Any idea how to get it a very vibrant silver with 'rubbing off' the king logos in order to buff it up before lacquer goes on?

Cheers for the input people!

i reckon you could lightly wet and dry it, 1200 grit, but caustic will leave it fairly smooth, i wouls say autosol would be your best bet! i always use that on my rawed alloy!
