Place the steerer in the vice at angle, sorry that wasn't very clear.

Put the steerer in at an angle then hold the saw parallel to the vice jaws.

How can you put it in an angle though? The vice will clamp it to be straight anyway and if you cut it parallel to the vice it would make it a straight cut? Not sloping.

Edit: unless I'm missing something or you're not getting it from your brain to words correctly lol

Oh. Makes sense.

My idea is basically put the steerer in line with the clamps, the 2 fork blades in line with each other vertically. Then cut the steerer at what angle you want.

Just means you have to cut at an angle, which is awkward and hard to initiate
