Jake.
I want to get some but worried about strength. I'll most likely hit them during sidehops, I'm quite shit rider though can only side hop like bar height. And gap like 6 to 7 foot. Can't even up to front or gap to front that's how shit I am. Shall I bother buying some or not?
SamKidney
Probably not worth it. I like carbon forks, and I'd run them if I could afford them, but I can't justify it other than that. Get hold of some of Onza's Genesis forks. Ridiculously stiff feeling. Carthy rates them..
Jake.
Mmmm true. Was watching cap? Use them on his rock man and he seems quite a heavy/rough rider so I thought it may withstand me hahaha. I use some old try all ones at the moment 875g weight doesn't bother me massively but it'd be nice knowing I haven't got the heaviest forks on market. May go for the try all alloy ones. N.Wood
A couple things: A: If you're "shit" like you say, don't bother. Won;t make any difference, and may hinder you as you'll think "might not try that in case I hit my forks" B : Cap uses them and although he does some big stuff he won't be smashing them against walls / rocks too much (cue the Tarty beys saying he does etc etc ) Thats what will weaken carbon, damage to the weave. You could be the lightest rider around but if you hit them into walls thye will break before someone who is heavy and does big stuff but doesn;t damage the weave.
Danny00135
Yeah I'd say it's not worth it, If you're anything like me, whenever I get anything new my riding is awful because i'm too scared to damage it (worked hard with little sh**s for that money ) I'd be even more scared with a product that could die in a short period of time through bashing :/
Jake.
Haha okay cheers guys. Was curious as my carbon bars have been solid throughout, and I've not seen any carbon forks snap anywhere but the steerer, and the new rock man forks have an alloy steerer I believe. SamKidney
Carbon steerer, but its thicker and has an alloy brace that runs a longer length down the tube.

Genuinely, he did smash/scrape the crap out of them. The left leg looked really, really haggard by the time they eventually died. But yeah, what you're saying is true
Blake
Just be a man and keep your heavy ones as long as they're sub 1kg they're light enough

Jake.
You have one of the very best forks ever made, be happy ffs! Do I now? What forks are they? All I know is that they're old tryall forks with a steel steerer. I'm very happy with them, call me silly but I've always wanted a pair of carbon forks. Just one of those things

dave33
What about the fork legs, from failed sidehops. Well eventually you will wear through them but I'd imagine the rest of the parts on your bike would be f**ked by then to. Just put a jaff bikes carbon protector and stick it on the leg if you are that worried
Jake.
Cheers Dave, was thinking about the jaf carbon protector too.
