ginger allen echo
I've seen a few of the top uci riders wearing part climbing shoes such as the Adidas Terrex solo shoe. Are there any other shoes similar to these that would be ideal for trials? I'm aware there are ribo's/Try-All shoes, just curious to what else there is. ghostrider88
Any approach shoes with flat(not agressive pattern) sole...Terrex solos are popular for a reason
ginger allen echo
i'll have a browse around then, any specific brands you'd recommend?
ghostrider88
Depends on your budget really, la sportiva gandas are great, but horribly expensive, five ten guide tennies might be worth looking, so could be daescents. The north face scend are pretty nice and softer than forementioned if you prefer softer feel...Or my favourite mammut obelisk, not very expensive, sole just stiff enough and very grippy and well made overall. isitafox
You can usually pick up b grade terrex solos on ebay for about £
dezmtber
I have been thinking of getting merrell trail gloves they seem good with the vibram sole
AkuskaUK
I recently purchased the "Koxx Street" shoes from TartyBikes... most grippy and comfortable shoes I've ever worn! Check them out?
ghostrider88
They are the same type of shoes like freeriders really...Wide and thick with standard lacing.
AkuskaUK
Yeah, these: http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/shoes/koxx_street/c125p10866.html Not had a slip yet with my Echo TR's... infact, i would say that they are too grippy on them! What would be the advantages of shoes like Ribos?
ginger allen echo
looking for something less bulky.. probably going to go with these - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ADIDAS-TERREX-SWIFT-SOLO-MENS-TRAINERS-G46594-OUTDOOR-HIKING-CLIMBING-F2-/140904512946?ebayCategoryId=15709
ghostrider88
I have swifts now, I haven´t tried them yet though They are lighter and less stiff than terrex solos but use the same continental sole.
Joe Papasnap Maher
Im on my 2nd pair of terrex solo's... Have convinced so many people to get them, and they all LOVE them!
Kevinfor
I always wear these when I ride No idea what they are called but they are flat and pretty light. Kevin.
J.KYDD
They are expensive, and you need to cut the tread off the pedal area but once bedded in the Salomon Speedcross shoes are amazing. For me the best part is the heal protection they offer. Also, as the heal grip is so aggressive, you reduce the risk of a foot sliding out if you are jumping back onto wet grass/grevel etc Edited January 16, 2013 by J.KYDD
Joe Papasnap Maher
Steve-o has them.. They look horrific (imo)
J.KYDD
I'll admit, they look a bit garish when new but once worn in for a month or two I really like the look of them. The grip, fit and protection are by far worth it though - I hated the Adidas shoes
Ali C
just some other options..... I'm quite a fan of Teva, I've had some Teva Cranks for a while now and they are super comfy, great quality and offer great grip and feel. If people are wanting a little less skate-shoe-like then here's a couple of options http://www.teva.co.uk/mens-fuse-ion-casual-water-shoes/1000225,en_GB,pd.html?dwvar_1000225_color=BLK&start=3&cgid=men-shoes-water Still a little skate looking, but water resistant and sticky sole http://www.teva.co.uk/mush-frio-lace-canvas-lightweight-shoes/4320,en_GB,pd.html?dwvar_4320_color=TVBL&start=9&cgid=men-shoes super light weight http://www.teva.co.uk/mens-royal-arch-wp-waterproof-cross-terrain-shoes/1000302,en_GB,pd.html?dwvar_1000302_color=LMGR&start=16&cgid=men-shoes http://www.teva.co.uk/mens-reforge-eVent-lightweight-hiking-shoe/1000187,en_GB,pd.html?dwvar_1000187_color=BLK&start=20&cgid=men-shoes http://www.teva.co.uk/cherry-bomb-2-kayaking-booties/1000150,en_GB,pd.html?dwvar_1000150_color=BLK&start=21&cgid=men-shoes something to go with your Lycra http://www.teva.co.uk/mens-churn-evo-lightweight-water-shoes/1000127,en_GB,pd.html?dwvar_1000127_color=BLK&start=28&cgid=men-shoes http://www.teva.co.uk/mens-links-mountain-biking-shoes/1002689,en_GB,pd.html?dwvar_1002689_color=BLK&start=22&cgid=men-shoes sticky rubber sole
Joe Papasnap Maher
They look like shoes you would buy from asda, yet with a stupid pricetag!! Yuck!
Ali C
some of them look werid, but no worse than Ribos, some look similar to Addidas, some look skate shoes (my choice).

super
I've been looking at getting a pair of mammut chalk shoes, really soft rubber sole and really nice a fit with a bit of toe protection . Purchased a pair from TK Max that were a size to big so i could test them on the bike then take them back for a refund. Ha ha. Grip seemed pretty good and they had a nice feel on the pedals. As a referrence i currently ride with vans classic slip ons which i do love for grip but would like something that really fits snug around your foot. http://www.mammut.ch/en/productDetail/303002000_v_0046_12/Chalk-Men.html
