Duncy H
I searched for the pc tech thread but couldn't find it due to reasons to be explained. Basically my screen has gone a but funky, i did manage to get ot back to normal when i pressed down on it for a bit from the top but now it's constantly like this.... Anybody any idea what's causing it?
Luke Rainbird
Unfortunately a screenshot will only show what the 'pooter thinks it's displaying rather than what you may see due to fecked hardware, so that image looks pretty normal for us If it seems to be a permanent shift then you may have killed/damaged the LCD panel though? Often pretty cheapish/easy to replace which is nice - what laptop is it?
Martin Reynolds
Cant see anything? if the screens damaged, it may be the actual screen itself, and not the signal thats being sent to the screen, so taking a screen shot shows the signal, not the actual screen. Duncy H
Ha I didn't think of that! Haha baically everything that is white is a purpely/pink and kind of pixelated but other things are fine?
Luke Rainbird
Sounds like physical damage then I'd imagine dude. Time to replace that bad boy - make/model?
Duncy H
dv9500 hp pavillion, quite old by todays standards i would have thought. Reckon it's a screen replacement then?
Luke Rainbird
If it's permanent, probably. Give it a night to recover and see if it sorts its shit out, else have a little look into prices (eBay's as good a place as any for getting a ballpark figure) and go from there
JT!
It'll probably be cheaper just to buy a new laptop, and us the old laptop hooked up to a monitor and a spear computer?

Duncy H
It'll probably be cheaper just to buy a new laptop, and us the old laptop hooked up to a monitor and a spear computer? I would like to attempt to spear my computer sometime, always something I have wanted to do. It's been like it a few days, I might just wait til I go to uni and treat myself to a new laptop then and in the meantime end up looking like this... omgnoseat
Might be your graphics card rather than your screen. Try linking your laptop up to an external screen. If that screen is perfectly normal, then you screen is indeed broken. If the external screen is also messed up then it's your graphics card. monkeyseemonkeydo
Graphics card issue would've shown up in the print screen wouldn't it? Has anything happened to the laptop recently to cause it trauma? Dropped, book fallen on it or owt?
