psiron
Any ideas on how to stop squeaky disk brakes. what with all the rain we've had, i haven't had much chance to get out and i've been doing most of my practicing in the garage or in the street in front of my house. i've been using a disk cleaning spray which works ok but does'nt last long before the squeak comes back and starts driving me crazy. any replies will be apreciated so long as they are relevant. Revolver
Chuck a bit of mud in and ride around dragging the brake for a bit, and then wash it out.
psiron
thanks for the reply. whats the mud gonna do to my nearly new disks and pads?
Revolver
It's gritty, it acts as an abrasive so it will accelerate the wearing process briefly so it'll wear down whatever's causing the squeak.
monkeyseemonkeydo
The problem with disc cleaner is that it removes any pad material built up on the rotor, effectively de-bedding in your brake. Putting water, or using something more abrasive like mud, and dragging the brake will speed up the bedding in process hopefully helping with the noise. If however the squeak is more of a honk you could have contaminated pads/rotors which requires a bit more effort to sort.
