Joshm1991
I'm not normally the one to do this but I saw this and couldn't help but share it! I've seen some eBay crap before this has gotta be high on the list! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230904671481;jsessionid=AD335E1E2F0A8B58F6FB2FD67CAFE0F9?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_sacat%3D0%26_from%3DR40%26_nkw%3D230904671481%26_rdc%3D1

Joshm1991
I know.. "Got given this as part payment”.. For what?? Either way, dude got ripped off!! I love the chain device on the front chain set for no apparent reason!
isitafox
"Worse case - new chain - £12.50 AT HALFORDS" Or spend an extra pound and get a better specced less rusty piece of crap. It's got a bloody Apollo seat on ffs! I also noticed he's stipulated either cash on collection or paypal gift. Sounds like a way to avoid a refund when the buyer realises they've been done! Joshm1991
I can't wait to see how much it eventually goes for, if it does that is! It is worth £1750 mind so I reckon he'll take it down if he doesn't get near that!
isitafox
I've just sent him this "Hi, just found this and it is just what I'm looking for. I need a high spec bike as I want to get into downhill racing and this looks ideal. Do you have a buy it now price in mind???" so will see what he says. Alex Dark
And who sent this to him Q: Hi, I saw this advert as it was posted on an internet forum due to the laughable description. You stated you don't know much about this sort of thing so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt but I get pretty annoyed when I see people try to rip off anyone getting into cycling. That bike NEVER cost £1700, not in a million years! If you did get it as payment and believed it cost that much then I'd go knocking on that person's door. I'd say that bike cost roughly £150 new. The seatpost is on backwards, the chain is fitted around the chainring the opposite way as to how it should be fitted, the bars are at an un-useable angle all in all it's a massive pile. £1 is about how much it's worth and fortunately most riders will be able to tell, but (and it might be your intention) you might fool a parent or kid who now has Christmas money and think they are grabbing a bargain. I know you'll not change the advert, but I thought I'd give you my thoughts and perhaps you'll think more nexttime 30-Dec-12 A: Good morning Ingerith, Hmm No name? But lots to say...... But sensibly you did give me the benefit... Along with the advert is a clear detail which you Conveniently missed in your rant..... I state, ' please do not ask me any details as I know nothing about bikes' What part if that is difficult for you to understand or digest? If you say it's worth a pound? You're a moron, it clearly is not! Conversely if you say it isn't, and perhaps you have experience ? Then fair enough!! Either way, keep your comments to yourself, they are neither helpful or warranted. It's a genuine sale, if it goes for £10 it does! You suggestive comments regarding a rip off or con are ridiculous!! It's an auction and people will only bid shat they want.. The pictures are clear, and as you have so knowledgeably pointed out, the bike Is not A1 condition...... My advice to you, mind your own business, don't bid, and in future be careful with your slanderous emails! You are welcome to your opinion, but the minute you write it down and it is not correct, the law kicks in. Happy Christmas Kevin.

AndrewEH1
Well it certainly wasn't worth £75...unless the buyer intends to beat the seller over the head with it for having no idea...

isitafox
Just had a dig through my mails and found his reply Hi, Thanks for your mail...Forgive me for saying, but I have been messed around A lot with one of my last sales, so am letting auction run...Unless....The buyer collects and pays for the bike before auction ends, In cash...My mobile is *********** To sell now, I want £300 but would take £250 for a quick sale..Over to you...Best regards Kevin Please note that is copy and pasted so the ropey punctuality is all his!
customrider-Rhys
i like the part where he states the wheels are "27 inch from bottom of tyre to top" what the hell is he, an idiot? surely everyone knows there 26 as standard on bikes? Joshm1991
Rather than start a new thread, this one is being bumped!! Found these all by the same seller!! They're probably worth at least a grand and a half each, despite the horrible stickers.. But, the descriptions are very vague and don't say anything about the bikes. They just caught my eye as being a little strange!! Perhaps stolen... http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/dsus7894/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=25&_trksid=p3686 Joosh
monkeyseemonkeydo
What the hell are those clown bike forks on the DH rigs? Actually, just WTF? The Stab with two chains? That ain't standard surely!
Joshm1991
What forks are they?? I've never seen anything like them before!! And yeah.. The Superco Silencer uses 2 chains and there are others but not on the same side!! Haha it's crazy!!

Joshm1991
No?? The patriot is for sure!! I've seen them go for over 2 grand for decent ones!! And the stab is quite an expensive bike also, depending on the year of it anyway..
Ali C
they are extremely dated bikes, that orange will be from early 2000's and they have such a random mix of parts. The forks on all the bikes are next to useless, the brakes all seem to not work etc. I'd say that Orange was worth around £600-£700, but if you bought it to actually ride you'd need to spend a few hundred more on it. Decent modern Patriots might go for £2000, but not 10 year old ones with weird forks and parts.
FamilyBiker
lokking at the lower forks on the patriot i´d doubt they could travel in more than 180mm before bottom-out,whats up with the loads of virtual travel they suggest to have?
Ali C
they almost seem like a mix of forks, maybe even two uppers bolted together. The badly spelled and worded "descriptions" make me suspicious too.
Joshm1991
Fair enough! I just know they can be worth quite a bit! But I didn't post them up to argue the price, it's just how ridiculous they look and how suspicious the ads are! They could well be genuine, but the lack of info on a bike of this "potential" caliber just screams stolen!! Fair enough its been done on a phone or somthing but if it was me, id put in a bit more than a sentence! Just my opinion really.
