ashleys sugden
so yesterday, i stripped my thread while riding on my trial tech cranks with echo sl freewheel on, was a nasty crash i must add. anyway i wanted to go riding today with my mate so he lent me his try all cranks off his 26" for the day, but i've noticed that they don't close up to my echo spacers all the way? (it is a echo 24" 2011 frame with Spanish bb by the way) which means there is a slight wobble, i think the bearings are ready for replacing, but will the fly bikes bearings fit my echo frame? as i don't intend paying £70 just for an echo bb installation tool, will i be able to get them in with a hammer? light hits is it the try all cranks not big enough? but i have been offered some trialtech ones, will the problem be solved if i bought the fly bearings and the cranks? and possibly some small spacers? thanks guuys
trials hoe
are they the try-all expert cranks? (40 quid ones on tarty) have them on my 24 and it was the same, had to do them up tight as foook to get them to grip echo spacers. just got a spanner to lengthen the leverage of the allen key and all has been good so far. dezmtber
Check the diameter of you axle if its the same as the I think 22mm fly cranks then so long as there mid not Spanish bb it could work? I would be easier to get the right bearing from tartys though
trials hoe
it might just be the tryalls are made with minutely tighter tolerances and the splines are a tighter fit, i did try some tt cranks on it at firstt but the nds splines were wobbly so they didn't get used but i'm sure they went on easier than the tryalls. think the cranks are made from two different grades of alu too, don't know if that plays a part in difficulty of fitting them. isitafox
I ran tryall cranks (the £100 ones) on my pure with Spanish BB and they didn't butt upto the spacers either so I think it must just be the cranks having a tighter spline. Also, yes those bearings will fit fine. To fit them either knock them in with a hammer or make a press with some threaded rod like you would for a headset. bike_dummie
They don't need to be all the way up to the spacer as Isis still has a slight taper. I also had the same problem with my echo and try all cranks (£100) although I found my 2012 tr cranks fitted on perfectly.

williams
I have the £40 try all cranks and you have to tighten them up pretty hard! Regarding that bearing, I don't think that it needs to be replaced, but if so yes that beaings from tarty do fit. Just make your own tool like this: Edited December 27, 2012 by williams
