Jake.
So they're clicking as you're tightening them up? Are you sure the stem thread is intact?
Trials-Mikey
yes they work with steel bolts
customrider-Rhys
have you removed the bars and cap and tried just screwing them in without tension to see if they go in smoothly then?
Trials-Mikey
Yes this has been tried and they are fine
customrider-Rhys
are they long enough then? as long as the steels? Edited December 25, 2012 by customrider-Rhys

customrider-Rhys
They are longer :/ They are longer :/ how far do they go in before they click? could be bottoming out
Trials-Mikey
Think that is the problem brcause as I am begining to get the bolt tight it then clicks and is then loose
trials hoe
Think that is the problem brcause as I am begining to get the bolt tight it then clicks and is then loose sounds like it's stripped the threads, shined a torch down the bolt hole to see if the threads are still good? if the bolts bottomed out and you carried on tightening it could have been the cause. Trials-Mikey
But the stem is fine with my old steel ones
trials hoe
pics? of the bolts side by side (ti and standard ones), and the threads in your stem would help dude.
customrider-Rhys
yeah if it goes tight then lose sounds like you've stripped it im afraid

trials hoe
is the thread pitch the same as the standard bolts? could also be the problem.

customrider-Rhys
should be the same pitch, link us the bolts and stem?
trials hoe
you can check to see if the pitch is the same (not mega accurate) by holding one of each of the bolts like in the attached pic, if the threads are different they wont sit together like the one below. hold them in front of light to make it easier to see the outlines of the threads. Blake
the because stem doesn't have holes that go all the way through, so if the bolts are too long they will just bottom out and not clamp your bars at all.

Trials-Mikey
cut ti bolts is that cool to do ?
trials hoe
cutting bolts down is fine. spin a nut on past where you're going to cut so when you undo it it will sort the threads out where you have cut through them, giving the end a file before you take the nut off would be beneficial too. remember you can always cut something shorter and not longer, measure measure measure to avoid making parts useless
