Azarathal
Hey guys, managed to strip 3/4 4bolt mounts at once despite being well greased and barely torqued. Basically, won't be able to drill until after xmas due to tools being with my dad but I have the tap and coils at home, would I be able to simply use the tap to thread it? I know it'd blunt the tap quick but I'll probably buy a new kit soon anyway. Is it doable?
Tom Booth
I think you'll be asking to much of the tap without drilling them out. I doubt you'll be very successful.
Rob Leech
How do, I take it that you're helicoiling to 5mm? If so, you should be fine with just the tap (the tap will be M6 x 1.0 (or 0.8), so a 5mm hole to start is fine). It will take a while, and don't over do it as you could end up snapping the tap. Cheers, Josh. Edit- thats if the tap IS M6 Edited December 21, 2012 by Rob Leech
Azarathal
Yeah I've used the kit on my 2005/6 echo team so im confident it's an m6 tap and m5 coil. Cheers for the answers guys!

Edit- thats if the tap IS M6 like josh says 5mm hole is fine just make sure you use some WD40 or oil to help cutting or you got a high chance of snapping the tap
Azarathal
Managed to re-tap the existing hole with a much longer bolt, tap was only cheap and is already partially blunt so didn't want to risk it.
